Scouting UNLV
The Rebels, under second-year head coach Jennifer Klein, return six starters from last year's squad that finished 11-8-1, and 2-4-1 in conference play. The roster is highlighted by the return of junior midfielder Macy Jo Harrison and sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Wassell. UNLV was picked to finish third overall in the MW.
UNLV enters the match with a 3-7-2 overall record after earning a 1-1 tie at Cal State Fullerton Sunday. Freshman Erica Meier scored her first career goal in the 86th minute to send the game into overtime.
Series History
While TCU has earned a pair of hard-fought victories in the last two meetings with the Rebels, UNLV boasts a 4-2-1 advantage in the all-time series. The Frogs had to have a double-overtime goal from Jackie Torda to win the last meeting in Las Vegas, 3-2.
Counting On Calhoun
Senior forward Jordan Calhoun has scored the game-winning goal for TCU in each of the last three victories. The Norman, Okla., native paces the Mountain West with her three game winners and is tied for 22nd in the NCAA. Calhoun has been on fire since returning to the Frogs' starting lineup on Sept. 9, netting five of her goals in the last six games. TCU has a 4-0-1 record in games that the senior finds the back of the net. All of her scores have come in the second half.
Last Time Out: vs. Houston Baptist (W, 3-0)
TCU tallied a season-high three goals and played lockdown defense to take down Houston Baptist by the score of 3-0 Sunday at Sorrels Field. The Frogs had nine different players combine to unleash 10 shots on goal. Freshman Tori Hale scored her first career goal at the 0:24 mark to give TCU the 1-0 lead. Senior Jordan Calhoun followed with a second half goal, while senior Kristen Halverson capped off the scoring with a goal of her own. Sophomore Ashlea Bullington continued her strong play between the pipes for the Frogs, recording her first career win with three saves. The shutout was also a first for the Fort Worth, Texas native and the fifth of the season for TCU.
Shout Out To Shutouts
The TCU defense has been rock solid this fall, posting five shutouts through the first 11 matches. Sophomore goalkeeper Ashlea Bullington recorded her first career blanking at Houston Baptist on Sept. 25. The Frogs were stellar at the Red Raider Classic, posting a pair of 1-0 shutouts to topple Toledo and Hofstra. The last time the Frogs enjoyed back-to-back blankings came on the road against Arizona State and Northern Arizona in Sept. 2008.
Racking Up Records
With her game-winning goal against Northwestern State on Sept. 18, senior forward Jordan Calhoun also notched her 76th career point, surpassing former Frog Sarah Campbell for the program record for career points. Campbell tallied 75 points for the Purple and White from 1986-89. The Norman, Okla., native now has 79 career points, including 12 career assists, six behind the TCU career benchmark set by Allison Calleri from 1996-99. Calhoun is TCU's all-time leading scorer with 33 career goals.
