
Rifle Continues To Dominate In Win At Jacksonville State

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team stretched their regular season winning streak to 24 with a 4696-4647 victory at Jacksonville State. Three Frogs set personal bests, while the team broke the school record in smallbore, shooting a 2346."The team continues to put forth that extra effort needed to improve their performance level," raved head coach Karen Monez. "That drive to improve has allowed the team to maintain their run of setting new team records."
TCU fired a 2335 in smallbore against UTEP earlier this season, but topped that record-breaking mark by 11 points on Saturday. Two Horned Frogs set personal bests to help the team achieve the new record. Sarah Scherer took home top honors after shooting a 591, while Caitlin Morrissey's personal best score of 588 was good for a second place finish.
Sarah Beard fired a 585 to finish third, while Mattie Brogdon was fifth after firing a 582. Claudia Duksa came in seventh after shooting a 577, while Catherine Green finished ninth with a score of 573.
TCU came away with a 2350-2340 win in air rifle. Scherer was the top shooter for the fifth straight match, shooting an impressive 597. Green fired a 586 for a fourth place finish, while Duksa's score of 584 was a personal best. Brogdon tied Duksa with a 584, while Morrissey came in eighth with a mark of 583. Jaime Dowd rounded out the Frog shooters with a 574.
The Horned Frogs return to action on Nov. 19 at Army.
