
Rifle Win Streak Stretches To 25

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team stretched its regular season winning streak to 25 with a first place finish in a triangular hosted by Army. The Horned Frogs fired a 4692 to defeat Army and Murray State. Sophomore Jaime Dowd fired a personal best 584 in air rifle.
TCU edged Army 2334-2329 in smallbore to get the match started. Sarah Scherer paced the field with a 588. Sarah Beard (583) and Caitlyn Morrissey (583) finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Catherine Green fired a 581 to finish seventh and Mattie Brogdon rounded out the Frogs' counters with a mark of 573. Also shooting, but not factoring in the final score was Claudia Duksa, who shot a 569.
Scherer continued her dominance at the rifle range with another first place finish in air rifle, firing a 596 to help the Frogs to an impressive 2358 team score. Brogdon claimed second place with a score of 588, while Green tallied a fifth place finish after shooting a 587. Beard finished seventh with a 586 and Morrissey rounded out the top 10 with a score of 584. Dowd's personal best score landed her in 11th, while Duks'a 582 was 13th.
The Frogs will take a break for the remainder of the semester, returning to match play in January. TCU will host Kentucky on Jan. 21 when it returns to action.
