DALLAS, Texas - Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania | Weatherford College) scored a game-high 22 points en route to leading the Horned Frogs to a 60-53 road victory over SMU at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday evening.
The TCU senior connected on 7-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-5 from behind the three-point line, to go along with seven rebounds. Ruzgas posted his sixth double-digit scoring performance of the season and his third 20-plus scoring effort.
Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia | Vincennes University) nearly finished with a double-double as the TCU forward posted 14 points to go along with nine rebounds while Ronnie Moss (Fort Worth, Texas | Christian Life Academy) notched 14 points - all in the second half - and a game-high six assists.
After falling behind 28-23 at halftime, the Frogs opened up the second frame on a 23-6 run to take a 12-point lead at the 11:06 mark. The Mustangs were able to battle back, but key free throws by Buljan and Moss down the stretch launched the Frogs to victory.
Papa Dia and Derek Williams led the Mustangs with 16 points apiece while Mouhammad Faye recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
With the victory, the Frogs improved to 5-3 on the season while the Mustangs dropped to 2-3 on the 2009-10 campaign.
The Frogs will return to the court on Tuesday when TCU welcomes Texas Tech to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
