Chan Joins Team Canada for Davis Cup Qualifier

TCU senior was one of four players nominated
FORT WORTH – Duncan Chan is set to represent his home country on the premier international stage in men's tennis.
Chan, a 21-year-old TCU senior, will compete for Team Canada in a Davis Cup tie against France from Friday-Saturday in Quebec City, Canada.
The winning nation advances to the Davis Cup Final 8 in November in Bologna, Italy.
Chan was nominated to Team Canada for the first time. He was one of four players selected. Chan will play alongside world No. 5 Félix Auger-Aliassime, Liam Draxl and Keegan Rice.
The tie will be decided by best-of-five matches – four singles and one doubles. Each match is best-of-three sets.
Chan put himself on the radar for Tennis Canada in August. He qualified for the Montreal Masters 1000 main singles draw, winning a qualifier vs. No. 91 Hugo Gaston. Chan further turned heads in doubles. He received a wild card onto the main draw and advanced all the way to the last eight, notably winning an opening-round match featuring recently-minted US Open champion Alexander Zverev.
From Markham, Ontario, Chan is likeliest to feature in the Canadians' doubles pairing. He won five ATP-level matches in August over a two-week span. Chan most recently reached the finals of the Quebec City Challenger.
He is among the top returning players in college tennis. Chan received the preseason ITA No. 3 singles ranking. His universal tennis rating of 14.10 is the ninth-highest among all active collegians. Chan was tabbed the 2026 Big 12 Player of the Year and received All-American honors in both disciplines.
Chan is not the only Horned Frog participating in a Davis Cup qualifier. Three-time TCU All-American Cam Norrie will lead Great Britain in a tie vs. Ecuador on Saturday and Sunday. Norrie, who played for TCU from 2014-17, is playing in his 10th Davis Cup tie. He holds a 10-8 all-time record in the event.
