Offense sputters in Ireland
DUBLIN, Ireland – After scoring on the opening two possessions, TCU failed to score for the remainder of the game in a 15-10 loss to North Carolina on Saturday night at Aviva Stadium in Ireland.
In his first game as a Horned Frog, Jaden Craig threw for 175 yards and was 20-32. Jeremy Payne led the rushers with 142 yards on 25 attempts.
Max Carroll had a standout game, leading the team with nine tackles defensively along with forcing two fumbles, while Ansel Din-Mbuh added two sacks.
TCU scored a field goal on its first drive before taking it down the field to score a touchdown and give the Frogs a 10-3 lead in the first quarter.
From that point forward, nothing was going for the TCU offense, and UNC slowly creeped ahead.
On its final possession, the Horned Frogs could not connect on fourth down in the red zone and UNC was able to hold the ball for the remainder of the game.
NOTING THE FROGS
TCU lost its streak of scoring at least 28 points in 30 straight non-conference regular season games. It was the second-longest streak by an FBS team in the last 45 seasons. The Horned Frogs also lost their streak of scoring 30 points in season openers for 10 straight years … Max Carroll is the first TCU player to have multiple fumble recoveries in a game since at least 1995 … Dating back to the 2024 season, TCU has had two running backs eclipse 135 rushing yards and both have been Jeremy Payne (174 vs. Cincinnati in 2025) … TCU scored for the 421st consecutive game, the second-longest streak in NCAA history behind Florida (473 games) … The 10 points from TCU are the least scored by the Frogs since Oct. 21, 2023 against Kansas State.
