Frogs outgain WVU 484-265 in the loss

FORT WORTH – TCU lost its fourth one-score game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to West Virginia, 24-20, at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

The Horned Frogs (3-4, 1-3 Big 12) had an opportunity in the red zone late to win the game, but a WVU strip sack sealed it for the road team.

Jaden Craig went 33-for-47 with 372 yards and a score, while Jordan Dwyer and Kari Ashley each eclipsed 100 yards for the day. Leading the defense was Jamel Johnson and Hudson Hooper, recording 11 and nine tackles, respectively.

After holding West Virginia to a field goal on their first possession, TCU marched right down the field, led by a perfect drive from Craig, to score on its opening possession once again to take a 7-3 lead.

The Horned Frog Defense was excellent against the pass in the first half, holding Michael Hawkins Jr. and the West Virginia offense to 45 passing yards and a 50% completion rate. Offensive mistakes by the Frogs, including a missed field goal and an interception, kept the score tight as the game was tied at the half at 10.

TCU continued to find ways to limit the West Virginia passing game in the second half, but struggled to find an answer for WVU's two-headed rushing attack.

The Frog offense continued to show flashes throughout the second half and were able to move the ball efficiently early in drives, but more costly turnovers and the inability to finish in the West Virginia half of the field, ended late-game scoring threats.
