
McCloy Wins Pole Vault on Day One of Texas Relays

AUSTIN – TCU track and field's Michael McCloy won the University/College section of the men's pole vault as the Frogs opened their weekend of competition at the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday evening.
A sophomore, McCloy picked up the event win, clearing a personal best 5.20m (17-0 ¾). It ranks as the No. 3 mark in TCU history and is tied for 44th nationally.
In the middle distance races, the TCU women saw two bronze finishes. Georgia Scott crossed the finish line third in the 800m, turning in another career best with a time of 2:04.49. Chachi Gonzales secured a third place result in the 1500m with a 4:27.76.
Jayden Douglas and Tia Williams both advanced to the final in the 400m hurdles. Douglas won his heat and finished fifth overall with a 52.12. Williams also placed fifth on the women's side with a 57.77. The duo will race in the event final on Friday.
The Frogs capped off the day with a pair of PRs and top 10 finishes in the 5000m. Gabby Martin was fifth overall (16:55.76) for the women, and CJ Meyer took ninth in the men's race (14:42.37).
TCU is back in action for Day Two on Friday, April 3.
