Junior reaches new heights for Horned Frogs
FORT WORTH – One of the top women's breaststroke swimmers in TCU swimming and diving history, Nina Vadovicova has qualified for the NCAA Championships, running from March 18-21 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and hosted by Georgia Tech.
This marks the first time a female swimmer from TCU has qualified for the NCAA Championships since 2012 when Sabine Rasch did so. Rasch closed one of the finest seasons in TCU swimming history that season, setting TCU records in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free and becoming the first woman since 1996 to represent the Horned Frogs at the NCAA meet.
Coming into the NCAA Championships, Vadovicova holds the 29th-fastest time in the 200 breast with a 2:08.60. The junior set this TCU-leading mark at the Mizzou Invitational.
Vadovicova was also invited to compete in the 100 breast event as well. She posted an NCAA-qualifying mark in the event as well with a 1:00.15 at the Big 12 Championships. That time is good enough for 46th nationally.
