
Scott wins Mile on Day One of New Mexico Collegiate Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – TCU track and field's Georgia Scott continued her dominance, winning the mile for the second time in the last three meets on the first day of competition at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic. She was among several Horned Frogs who had strong performances on Friday night.
Scott, who broke the school record in the mile just last weekend, cruised to a seven second victory in a loaded field at the ABQ Convention Center. She finished with a time of 4:54.94 to win the event for TCU.
Mohamed Kowa earned a runner-up finish in the 800m. The senior posted a PR time of 1:49.44, which ranks No. 8 all-time in program history.
The Frogs also saw a top three finish from Indya Mayberry in the 200m. Racing the event for the first time this season, the sophomore posted a time of 23.12, which ranks inside the top-10 nationally so far this season.
Yannik Knobloch also currently sits in third in the Heptathlon through four events. He ran a 7.14 60m dash (sixth), cleared 1.87m in the high jump (sixth), threw 13.64m in the shot put (third) and won the long jump with a 7.17m leap. He will compete in the final three events on Saturday.
In the women's long jump, London Tucker turned in a massive PR with a 6.30m (20-8) jump. She finished fourth overall in the event and landed at No. 5 in school history in the event.
Rounding out the top performers was Ashvin Balaramana, who shined in the men's high jump in his TCU debut. A mid-year enrollee, Balaramana cleared 2.13m (6-11 ¾) to finish fourth. Further, his mark ranks No. 3 in TCU history and is the best by a Frog since 2004.
TCU is back for the final day of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7.
