IRVING, Texas – TCU volleyball's Rosemary Archer and Kinsley Young were recognized by the Big 12 Conference as Setter and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Archer and Young led the Horned Frogs to a perfect weekend at home, collecting conference wins over No. 24 Colorado and UCF. The duo was key in helping extend TCU's winning streak to 11 matches, the second-longest in program history, and helping the Frogs climb to No. 8 for their highest ranking ever in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
Â
Archer ranked fifth in the Big 12 Conference with 9.50 assists per set on the week. She dished out 76 assists across eight sets while guiding TCU to a .303 team hitting percentage, second-best in the Big 12 for the week, and 14.13 kills per set, fifth-best in the conference over the two-match span.
Â
The fifth-year senior totaled 35 assists and 13 digs in the win over No. 24 Colorado, marking TCU's third top-25 victory this year. Archer followed it up with 41 assists (10.25 per set) against UCF, while guiding the offense to a .333 hitting percentage.
Â
Young tied for the Big 12 lead with 15 blocks last week and ranked second in the conference with 1.88 per set. Her presence at the net was massive as TCU held its opponents to a .163 hitting percentage, the fourth-lowest in the league. She also made an impact offensively, totaling 18 kills on a .366 hitting percentage, the 10th-best mark in the conference.
Â
Against No. 24 Colorado, the Southlake, Texas, product recorded her first career double-double with 10 kills and 11 blocks, becoming the first TCU middle blocker to record a double-double since Mykayla Myers tallied 10 kills and 10 blocks against West Virginia in 2021. Further, Young's 11 blocks are the most by any Big 12 player in a conference match this season. She added eight kills and four blocks in the win over UCF, helping the Frogs remain perfect in league play.
Â
It marks the second set of Big 12 Weekly Honors this season for the duo after TCU swept the conference awards on Sept. 8.
Â
No. 8 TCU is back in action on Oct. 9 against Arizona at 6:30 p.m. CT in Schollmaier Arena before traveling to take on No. 11 Arizona State on Sunday.
