Frogs will honor three seniors at the conclusion of the match
FORT WORTH – The No. 4-ranked TCU women's rifle team is set to host UTEP on Saturday in their final home match of the season. TCU will honor its three seniors, Annie Downum, Mikole Hogan and Katie Zaun, at the the conclusion of the match. The match is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
The Horned Frogs turned in one of their top performances of the season in Alaska. Monday's aggregate mark of 4,750 was tied for the fifth-best score in program history. TCU also shot a 2,361 in smallbore, a mark that was tied for the sixth-highest in program history, while the 2,389 in air rifle was tied for the eighth-best score in program history.
TCU's performance moved it up to No. 2 in the NCAA Team Standings with a three-score aggregate average of 4,748.00. Overall on the season, TCU ranks second nationally with an aggregate average of 4,737.25. The Frogs are also second nationally in smallbore average, 2,354.25. They are third nationally in air rifle average at 2,383.00.
Eight of TCU's 12 shooters rank in the top 50 nationally in season air rifle average. Katie Zaun leads the Frogs and ranks seventh nationally with an average of 597.27. Mackenzie Kring is 19th nationally with a season average of 595.82. Mikole Hogan, Christina Hillinger, Alexandra Rosenlew, Marissa Fedora and Rylie Passmore are all averaging 594.00 or better on the season.
In smallbore, TCU boasts six shooters in the top 50. Once again, Zaun leads the way for the Frogs and ranks second nationally with a 592.27. Passmore ranks 14th nationally, averaging a 597.92. Rosenlew's season average of 587.20 ranks 21st. Fedora (585.58) and Hogan (585.17) rank in the top 35.
Six shooters sit in the top 38 nationally in aggregate average. Zaun in third nationally with a season average of 1,189.55. Passmore (1,181.92) and Rosenlew (1,181.75) rank 21st and 22nd nationally. Hogan (1,179.92), Fedora (1,179,83) and Hillinger (1,178.67) are all in the top 38.
UTEP enters the weekend sitting 10th in the NCAA Team Selections with a three-score average of 4,708.67. As a team, the Miners are averaging at 2,326.50 in smallbore and a 2,375.88 in air rifle for a season aggregate average of 4,702.38. Carlee Valenta and Kameron Wells co-lead the team with a 584.00 smallbore season average. Valenta is the top air rifle shooter with a season average of 596.25.
