
Rifle Returns To Action Sunday

TCU will host two matches this weekend
FORT WORTH – After a nearly two month hiatus, the No. 4 TCU women's rifle team is set to return to action on Sunday when they host No. 12 Ohio State and Schreiner University. A second match against Ohio State is set for Monday. Both matches are set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
The Horned Frogs enter the spring portion of their schedule sitting third in the NCAA Selections standings. TCU owns a three-score average of 4,744.33.
Overall, the Frogs are ranked second nationally in smallbore average (2,353.13), second in air rifle average (2,383.50) and second in aggregate (4,736.63). TCU has fired the highest aggregate score (2,353 at Air Force) in the NCAA this season. The Frogs have two of the top eight air rifle marks and two of the top eight smallbore scores this season.
Individually, Katie Zaun ranks in the top 10 nationally in both disciplines (5th smallbore, 591.43; 7th air rifle, 597.14) and fifth overall in aggregate average (1,188.57).
TCU boasts five of the top 30 individual air rifle shooters. Mackenzie Kring sits 20th nationally, averaging a 595.75. She fired a 599 her last time out. Mikole Hogan, who matched her career high with a 598 last time out, and Alexandra Rosenlew, who is averaging a 596.3 over the last three matches, have a 595.00 season average. Hillinger has found her groove in air rifle averaging a 597.00 over the last three matches to push her season average to 594.63.
The Frogs have five shooters in the top 25 in smallbore. Rosenlew (587.83), Rylie Passmore (586.50), Marissa Fedora (586.38) and Hogan all rank among the best smallbore shooters in the country. Hogan has eclipsed the 590 mark in each of her last two matches, while Passmore accomplished the feat for the second time this season in her last outing.
Four Frogs sit in the top 25 in aggregate score – Zaun (5th, 1,188.57), Rosenlew (14th, 1,182.83), Hogan (20th, 1,181.38) and Passmore (23rd, 1,180.75).
Ohio State sits 11th in the NCAA Team Selections standings. As a team, the Buckeyes average a 2,327.80 in smallbore and a 2,363.50 in air rifle for an aggregate season average of 4,691.30. they are led by Lillian Warren (582.75) in smallbore and Gabriella Sprague (591.40) in air rifle.
Schreiner is shooting just its fifth match of the season. It has a season average of 2,146.25 in smallbore and a 2,242.00 in air rifle. Molly Mitchell paces the team in both disciplines.
