
TCU Drops Game at No. 11 BYU, 76-70

Edmonds leads team with 19 points, eight rebounds
PROVO, Utah – For the second-straight road game against a Top 25 team, TCU could not hold onto a second-half lead in a 76-70 loss at No. 11 BYU Wednesday at Marriott Center.
After leading 36-30 at halftime, the Horned Frogs (11-6, 1-3) took their largest lead of the game, 39-30, 30 seconds into the second half with Xavier Edmonds' second 3-pointer of the night. Edmonds, who played the past two seasons at nearby Salt Lake Community College, finished with a team-best 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Cougars (16-1, 4-0) followed the Edmonds three with an 11-2 run to tie the game 41-41 with 16:06 to play. TCU regained the lead on the next possession after a Jace Posey layup. Consecutive free throws by David Punch gave TCU its final lead of the game, 46-43, with 15:16 remaining.
The Frogs fought back to tie it, 63-63 with 5:41 to play after a bucket by Micah Robinson. From that point on, TCU shot 3-of-8 from the field and BYU made 6-of-8 from the free throw line. For the game, the Cougars converted 23-of-29 and the Frogs made 12-of-18 at the line.
With BYU's size advantage, the Cougars dominated the glass, 51-36, including 21 offensive rebounds that led to 24 second chance points.
Robinson joined Edmonds in double figure scoring with 10 points to go with six rebounds. Brock Harding scored eight points and dished out a team-high seven assists.
It was a homecoming game for junior Tanner Toolson, who played his freshman season at BYU and grew up in Provo. He finished with seven points in front of many friends and family.
BYU was led by freshman star AJ Dybantsa, who finished with 25 points.
The Horned Frogs remain on the road and will play at Utah on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. The game in Salt Lake City, Utah will air on TNT.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Xavier Edmonds was 2-of-4 from 3-point range. It was his sixth-straight game with a made three. The two makes were a season high.
- Edmonds' 19 points were his second-most of the season. It was the third time he's led the team in points.
- Edmonds finished with a team-high eight rebounds. It was the second time this season he led the team in rebounding.
- Brock Harding led TCU in assists for the 14th time this season with seven.
- David Punch scored seven points, snapping an 11-game streak of 10 or more points.
- Punch failed to block a shot for the first time this season. It breaks a streak of 16-straight games with a blocked shot, TCU's longest streak since the 2006-07 season when Alvarado Parker had a streak of 21.
- Jayden Pierre was 1-of-2 from 3-point range. It was his eighth-straight game with a made three.
