Frogs post second-lowest low-18 of any team in round three
TOLEDO, Ohio. – TCU lived up to its preseason top-25 billing and Camille Min-Gaultier proved her All-American credentials on Tuesday on the final day of the Inverness Intercollegiate.
The Horned Frogs notched the second-lowest score of any team in any round, shooting a five-over 289 at the PGA and LPGA Tour-tested Inverness Club.
TCU began the day in fifth place and maintained the position when scorecards were finalized. The Frogs finished 50-over (902) and one stroke back of No. 29 NC State for fourth.
Min-Gaultier placed third outright at five-over (218). She birdied five of her final eight holes en route to a one-under 71.
The junior notched her second-highest finish as a Frog and fifth top-10 in her last eight collegiate starts. Min-Gaultier also scored par-or-better for the 20th time in her career. She was one of only eight competitors in the 65-player field to shoot under par in a round.
TCU set its season low-18 record, aided in large part due to a furious charge down the stretch. Buoyed by Min-Gaultier's birdie surge – she rattled off three straight on holes 11-13 – the Horned Frogs posted a two-under 142 on the back nine.
All five Frogs recorded their low-18 for the tournament.
Sofia Barroso Sá turned in her 19th career top-20 finish, tying for 16th at 11-over (224).
Sofie Dimitrova was the biggest riser for TCU. She improved by 17 places and finished tied for 24th (+16). Dimitrova shot an even 71 and was minus-three over her final 14 holes. The junior put an exclamation mark on her round with consecutive birdies on 17 and 18.
Dimitrova led the field in par-5 scoring (4.67, -2). Originally from the Czech Republic, Dimitrova notched an eight-stroke improvement from her first two rounds. She joined Min-Gaultier as one of two Frogs to par Inverness.
Yvette O'Brien matched Dimitrova's finish on the course's penultimate holes. She scored an even-par 36 on the back nine and tied for 34th at 18-over.
Kirstin Angosta tied for 46th to conclude TCU's participation.
