Frogs have successful week in California
FORT WORTH – Senior Graydon Morris broke the 5k school record, highlighting a successful split squad trip in California as members of TCU track and field competed this week at the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational on April 16-17.
A trio of distance runners represented the Horned Frogs in Azusa, California, at the Bryan Clay Invite all running 5ks. Competing late at night, Mckenzie Bailey, the lone woman for TCU, ran a personal best 16:29.11, improving her standing in the all-time top 10 list in school history. She now ranks 6th at TCU in the event. For the men, Johnson Lagat ran the fastest time in program history, clocking a 13:43.28 mark; however, his teammate Morris reclaimed the record just two hours later, posting a 13:36.27. The duo now ranks one-two in the record books, while Morris' time is top 25 in the nation this season.
Out in Walnut, California, Yannik Knobloch competed in the men's decathlon. He finished 12th overall with 6188 points but only competed in eight of the 10 events. The freshman finished in the top 10 in six events, including a first-place finish in discus with a mark of 47.58m.
The remainder of the Frogs are competing in Waco at the Michael Johnson Invitational April 18-19 before gearing up for Penn Relays.
