TCU sent four pairings to Manhattan Beach

MANHATTAN BEACH, Cali. – Kaitlyn Bradley, Olivia Clines, Maria Gonzalez, Hailey Hamlett, Anhelina Khmil, Deniela Konstantinova, Anete Namike and Allanis Navas represented TCU Beach Volleyball at the AVCA Collegiate Pairs Qualifier.

Gonzalez and Navas led the pack in the Gold Bid Division, placing fourth. Hamlett and Khmil followed behind in fifth place.

Bradley, Clines, Konstantinova and Namike competed in the Silver Bid Division.

THE RUNDOWN
Friday featured pool play which determined the seeding and bids for Saturday and Sunday.

Hamlett and Khmil placed second in Pool 2 going 2-1 on the day. In their pooling, the duo saw a victory against GCU (21-16, 21-17) and a loss Arizona State (21-11, 21-18). The results placed them in the Single Elimination Playoff as the 13th seed. In their first matchup, they beat Cal (21-18, 16-21,15-9).

Gonzalez and Navas went 3-0 on Friday. In Pool 4, the pairing saw wins over Washington (21-18, 21-13) and Cal (21-13, 21-16). This placed them as the fifth seed in the Single Elimination Playoff. Their first win in the bracket was over Pepperdine (21-16, 21-9).

Bradley and Clines went 3-0 in Pool 10 in the Silver Bid division. The duo recorded wins over USF (21-14, 21-10), Stanford (21-16, 15-21, 15-10) and GCU (21-12, 12-21,15-9). Namike and Konstantinova in Pool 3 went 2-1. They topped LBSU (21-14, 21-17) and Cal (21-14, 21-19), but fell to GCU (21-15, 21-12).

Saturday, both pairs in the gold playoffs won their first match. Hamlett/Khmil topped Arizona State (21-12, 21-18) and Gonzalez/Navas defeated Cal Poly (21-11, 24-22). Those wins forced a matchup of the two Horned Frogs teams in the quarterfinals with Gonzalez/Navas pulling out the win (21-16, 21-15).

The Silver Bid Division teams were placed into different power pools for Saturday. Konstantinova/Namike went 3-0 on the day in Pool 4, notching victories over Stanford (21-14, 21-17), Cal (21-14, 23-21) and ASU (22-20, 21-9). Bradley and Clines went 2-1 in Pool 6. The duo defeated Cal Poly (21-16, 21-17) and UCLA (20-22, 21-19,15-13), but fell to Arizona State (16-21, 21-19, 12-15).

With their defeat in Saturday's playoffs, Hamlett and Khmil were placed in the quarterfinal round loser's bracket on Sunday, going 2-0. The pair beat Cal Poly (21-17, 12-21,15-12) and USC (21-16, 22-20).

In the semifinals, Gonzalez and Navas fell to LBSU (21-13, 21-17) putting them in the 3rd place match where they fell to USC (21-17, 19-21,18-20) for a fourth place finish.

Sunday in the Silver Pools, Bradley was paired with Konstantinova, and Clines with Namike. Bradley/Konstantinova went 2-0 in Pool 2. Together, they downed Stanford (21-12, 21-9) and GCU (21-19, 21-14). In Pool 4, Clines and Namike went 0-2 losing to Cal and LMU.
