For the first time in program history, TCU took five straight set victories to sweep a ranked opponent.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- No. 2 TCU beach volleyball (30-2) went 2-1 on the first day of the Unconquered Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida. The Horned Frogs took a 3-2 victory over No. 19 Stetson and a 5-0 victory over No. 15 Florida International before suffering a 4-1 loss to No. 4 Florida State.

The 5-0 victory over the Panthers marks the second time this season and second time in program history that TCU has swept a ranked opponent. It is also the first time in program history that the Frogs have swept a ranked opponent in straight sets.

Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara delivered a perfect 3-0 day. The pairing opened with straight-set victories over No. 19 Stetson and No. 15 FIU before claiming a close three set victory over No. 4 Florida State. Their average margin of victory for the day was 6.3 points.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 19 Stetson:

Maria Gonzalez and Ana Vergara took the first point of the day in a straight set victory from the No. 4 position: 21-12, 21-12.
The duo secured their 20^th win as partners.
They notched their 13th ranked win of the season.
Megan Muret and Rochelle Scott took the third point of the dual, breaking the tie: 21-13, 22-20.
The No. 5's improved their seasonal record to 24-1.
The duo notched their 15th ranked win of the season.
Hailey Brockett and Peyton Yamagata clinched the TCU victory in a straight-set win from the No. 3 position: 21-19, 28-26.
Brockett notched her 30^th career ranked win over the Panthers.
The duo claimed their 3rd win as a pairing; they have never lost a match together.
Brockett improved her seasonal record to 19-5, Yamagata 8-1.
The Frogs are 2-0 against the Hatters this season. TCU leads the all-time series 4-2.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 15 Florida International:

Gonzalez and Vergara scored the first point of the dual for the second time today from the No. 4 position: 21-13, 21-13.
The duo claimed their 14th ranked win of the season.
The pairing improved their overall record to 21-4.
Filippone and Brockett took the second point for the Frogs with their straight set victory from No. 3: 21-12, 21-16.
The duo notched their 14th win together.
Filippone improved her seasonal record to 19-8, Brockett to 20-5.
Muret and Scott sealed the match for TCU with their victory from No. 5: 21-11, 21-12.
Riding a 17-game winning streak, the most in program history, the duo was able to notch their 25th win as partners.
The pairing earned their 15^th straight set ranked win.
Sutton MacTavish and Kaylie McHugh took the fourth consecutive point for the Frogs with their victory from the No. 2 position: 21-16, 21-15.
The pairing notched their 12th win together.
Tania Moreno and Hailey Hamlett secured the sweep in their two-set victory on No. 1: 24-22, 21-18.
This is the duo's first appearance and victory as a pairing.
Moreno improves to 24-6 on the season, Hamlett to 17-6.
For the first time in program history, TCU took five straight set victories to sweep a ranked opponent.
TCU is 4-2 in all-time matchups against FIU.

QUICK HITS AGAINST No. 4 Florida State

Moreno and Hamlett were the first Horned Frog duo to finish their match against the Seminoles.
The No. 1's took a close first set lost and failed to come back in the second: 17-21, 12-21.
Muret and Scott finished the dual second, resulting in a two-set loss: 21-14, 21-16.
Finishing third, MacTavish and McHugh lost to the No. 2 Seminole pairing.
The duo battled for the first set but fell short in the second: 20-22, 14-21.
No. 3's Filippone and Brockett finished the match fourth.
The duo took a 21-15 first set victory over the Seminoles but unfortunately lost in the second. Unable to close in the third, the duo fell: 21-15, 13-21, 9-15.
Gonzalez and Vergara were the only Horned Frog pairing of the day to score against the FSU.
After losing their first set, the duo came back to take the next two: 18-21, 21-14, 16-14.
The duo is no strangers to three-set matchups as they lead the team, 10-2, in three-setters this season.
The pairing improved their seasonal record to 22-4.
They also notched their 15^th ranked win and are 5-2 in top 5 matchups.
TCU is 2-1 against FSU this season. FSU still leads the series 13-2.
