Horned Frogs fall to No. 9 Baylor at home
FORT WORTH – No. 1 TCU men's tennis (16-3) couldn't muster momentum quickly enough on Friday night, falling, 5-2, to No. 9 Baylor (18-2) at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs dropped the doubles point and fell behind by a set on all six singles courts resulting in the third loss of the season. TCU falls to 4-2 in duals against Top 10 opponents this season and 9-3 in Top 25 matches.
"This was disappointing." head coach David Roditi said. "We didn't start well at all and I blame myself for that. You can't lose all six first sets in singles play after losing the doubles point and expect to win. We'll learn from it. There are some things we need to fix but there are also fundamental things that we just didn't do right tonight. Credit to Baylor, they are a obviously such a strong team, one of the best in the nation. We just have to play better. A+ effort from our fans and our marketing department for the atmosphere tonight. You all showed up, we just didn't, until it was too late. We have a quick turnaround to Tulane on Sunday and then it's on to Big 12 play next week with a huge match against Texas Tech at home next Friday. Go Frogs!"
TCU dropped the doubles point for just the third time all season, falling at No. 2 and No. 3. Luc Fomba and Jake Fearnley recorded a dominant win at No. 1, taking down No. 30 Bass/Lah 6-2. They stay perfect in ranked matches together, 6-0. The win is tied for their largest margin of victory in a ranked match this season – also 6-2 over No. 14 Ciamarra/Harper (Texas).
