The Horned Frogs collect their 14th straight dual win, improve to 5-0 this season.
FORT WORTH – No. 3 TCU men's tennis (5-0) showcased its depth of talent in a 4-1 road victory over Mississippi State on Friday evening at the Rula Tennis Pavilion in Starkville, Miss. Alastair Gray earned his 100th career victory as a Horned Frog in the win.
"Very good road win for the men on our team," head coach David Roditi said. "Mississippi State is known for always having very good players, well coached, gritty and good competitors that defend their home turf. Coach Bowen and Coach Siddiqui did a great job getting our doubles teams ready to battle and better prepared. I also felt Gray and Martin winning some critical first set tie-breakers in singles gave us nice momentum and confidence. Bertus was exceptional today with a quick point in singles. Mississippi State showed again what a classy program and school they are as hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and allowed us unlimited time on their beautiful, new indoors facility. Now we prepare for a very tough road match against a highly ranked and well coached team in Ole Miss. GoFrogs!"
TCU has now won 14 consecutive dual matches dating back to last season. It has been 357 days since TCU's last defeat.
The Horned Frogs singles winning streak ended at 16 straight matches to start the new season, tied for the third-best start to singles play in program history (also 1996) and the best since 1981. TCU won three of four completed singles contests tonight, the team is now 18-1 this season.
