Preview: Seminole Beach Bash
FORT WORTH – The TCU Beach Volleyball season starts this Saturday as the Horned Frogs travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to participate in the Seminole Beach Bash presented by Celebrity Cruises from Feb. 22-23.
The tournament is hosted by No. 2 Florida State, and the field also includes No. 9 Stetson, No. 13 South Carolina, and Louisiana Monroe. On Saturday, the Beach Frogs will face Stetson at 8:15 a.m., CT and Florida State at 4:00 p.m., CT. Sunday begins with a match versus South Carolina at 10:45 a.m., CT and concludes with a 2:15 p.m., CT match against Louisiana Monroe.
TCU Notables
The Frogs are beginning their sixth season and return 10 players from last year's squad as they begin their second season as a member of the CCSA.
Graduate transfer, Olivia Beyer, was named to the CCSA Watch List after a solid 17-win season last year with LSU.
Taylor Bradley and Avery Arellano are two returnees that played in every match of the 2019 season. Arellano paced the team with 24 wins, and Bradley followed with 21. The pair posted a combined 15 wins over ranked opponents.
Senior, Haven Hill, appeared in 32 matches for the Beach Frogs with 14 wins and four wins over ranked opponents.
The Competition
No. 9. Stetson finished 30-10 in 2019 after being ranked in every AVCA poll last year, finishing the year at No. 6. The Horned Frogs defeated the Hatters 3-2 in their only meeting. TCU looks to stay perfect against the Green and White on Saturday.
No. 2 Florida State had a 29-7 campaign in 2019, including a 13-1 CCSA conference record. FSU placed a league-high five players on the preseason All-CCSA team. The Beach Frogs are looking for their first win over the club on Saturday.
No. 13 South Carolina wrapped up their 2019 season 20-11 with a CCSA conference record of 7-7. In their last meeting, TCU won 3-2 and looks to build on that victory.
Louisiana Monroe finished 18-13 in 2019. The Horned Frogs are 3-0 against the Warhawks and seek to remain undefeated against ULM on Sunday.
