The Frogs won their first ever conference tournament match against UNCW.
EMERSON, Ga. – The No. 18 TCU beach volleyball team completed the first day of the CCSA Beach Championship by beating UNCW, 3-2, and falling to No. 4 LSU, 5-0, at the LakePoint Sporting Community in Emerson, Ga.
The Horned Frogs (17-15, 4-6) began play by facing the No. 11 seed UNCW (8-15, 1-9). Avery Arellano and Hailey Brockett set the tone of the match by dispatching Reagan Evans and Anna Grauel, 21-10, 21-9. The Seahawk's were able to win on courts one and four, but the Frogs took care of business on courts two and three. This included a three-set match on court two where Molly Scheel and Taylor Bradley were able to hold out for the victory, a 21-17, 23-21, 15-10 decision.
TCU's next opponent was No. 2 seed LSU (27-5, 14-2). The Frogs were unable to get much momentum early, as the Tigers won four of the five first sets. The No. 4 pair of Claire Doyle and Jordan Westendorff were able to cause the Tigers some trouble. They forced a third set to try to steal a point, but LSU won the set to sweep the match.
