AUSTIN, Texas – TCU's diving squad continued competition at the Texas Diving Invitational on Thursday, with several Horned Frogs placing higher than they did on day one.
After placing 25th in the three-meter dive on Wednesday, Isabella Ashdown bounced back with a 16th place finish in the one-meter on Thursday. She scored 254.25, just 25.5 points off of the top eight and a spot in the finals. Connie Deighton made improvements as well, placing 21st after yesterday's 35th place finish. Deighton scored 236.50 in the one-meter. Grace Newell finished 30th with a score of 216.20 and Megan White finished 35th with a score of 185.90.
On the men's side, Owen Moncino placed 22nd in the three-meter dive with a score of 254.90, improving from his 25th place finish on Wednesday. Andrew Shurtleff finished 26th with a score 233.45.
"Much stronger day of diving today here at the UT invite," TCU diving coach Anthony Crowder said. "Some great dives performed and with a little more consistency and attention to details we will see some final finishes. Looking forward to platform tomorrow."
TCU will finish competition in Austin tomorrow with the men's and women's platform dive. The women are scheduled to start at 10:35 a.m. and the men will follow at 1:35 p.m.
