Bergeson and Arellano gave the Horned Frogs three victories as the team went 3-1 in the season opening weekend in Phoenix, Ariz. Bergeson and Arellano defeated Colorado Mesa, 21-18, 21-11. They took down Loyola Marymount's duo, 21-17, 21-15. They then capped their performance with a win over Grand Canyon at 21-19, 21-17.
Up next, beach volleyball will begin a five-day, six-match road trip to California beginning March 14 at Long Beach State.
Wymer, a native of Flower Mound, Texas, came on in relief against No. 15 Texas A&M in the 10th inning after TCU rallied to tie the game at 10. He pitched five scoreless innings without allowing a base runner, retiring all 15 batters he faced. He notched a career-high nine strikeouts in the game. Twice he struck out the side, once in the 10th and once in the 13th. He needed just 64 pitches in the game.
No. 1 TCU (11-1) won the Shriner's Hospital for Children College Classic win three victories over ranked teams, and the team's next outing will be a three-game series at UC Irvine starting Friday, March 10, at 8:30 p.m. CT.
