Feb. 3, 2017 RETRO REWIND
Our men's basketball program will look to continue the momentum from Wednesday's 86-80 overtime win at Kansas State when it hosts Texas Saturday at noon in our Retro Rewind in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. We'll be wearing Nike Elite Throwback Uniforms and having a Retro Costume Contest, so wear any outfit from the decade of your choice!

Make sure to be in your seats at halftime as we retire the jersey of TCU basketball legend Kurt Thomas!
PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOMOBILES
All our women's basketball program was missing was John Candy and Steve Martin. In case you weren't aware, it was quite the interesting journey for head coach Raegan Pebley's squad to Iowa State last weekend.
Friday's scheduled charter flight had issues with the plane. During the six-hour wait at Meacham Airport, the team did happen to come across head football coach Gary Patterson returning from a West Coach recruiting trip as well as basketball legend Magic Johnson, who was in town for a speaking engagement and spent some time with our team in the airport terminal.

Ultimately, we wound up flying commercial on game day to Iowa State and didn't arrive in Ames until 2 p.m., just 3 hours before tip time. We appreciate Iowa State being understanding to our travel plight and adjusting the game time from noon to 5 p.m.
A special shout out to women's basketball director of operations Angela Gonzaga for her incredible organizational skills in pulling off all the last-minute travel adjustments and helping us get to Ames! As Raegan will tell you, Ang is the best!
WELCOME NEW HORNED FROGS!

Last Edition's Answer: In the spirit of Retro Rewind, we went back to the 1980 comedic smash Airplane! for the classic line, "By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?"

This Week's Question: "You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right, I talk too much. I also listen too much. I could be a cold-hearted cynic like you... but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. Well, you think what you want about me; I'm not changing. I like... I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
A few of the Ocean State University men's basketball NLI signees live a few miles from campus. They would like to get a jump start on preparations for next year. Which of the following is permissible?
A. These signees can review the playbook with coaches.
B. These signees can sit in on film review sessions with the team and coaches.
C. These signees can attend off-court team meetings.
D. None of the above.
The answer is D. They can, however, attend on-court practices (including those that are closed to the general public). NCAA Bylaw 14.2.1.1.1 states that a prospective student-athlete shall not engage in any practice activities (e.g., review of playbook, chalk talk, film review) with a coaching staff member prior to his or her enrollment. A prospective student-athlete who has signed a National Letter of Intent or the institution's written offer of admission and/or financial aid, or has submitted a financial deposit to the institution in response to the institution's offer of admission shall not observe an institution's off-field or off-court practice session (e.g., meeting, film review) that is closed to the general public. A prospective student-athlete may observe an institution's on-field or on-court practice session (including a session that is closed to the general public), regardless of whether he or she has signed a National Letter of Intent or the institution's written offer of admission and/or financial aid, or has submitted a financial deposit to the institution in response to the institution's offer of admission. (Adopted: 5/30/13)
