FORT WORTH, Texas -- Kenny Hill from football and Emmy Martin from women's golf have been named TCU's Athletes of the Week based on outstanding performances in the past week.
Hill, the senior quarterback from Southlake, Texas, has led the Horned Frogs offense to victories this entire season. Last Saturday, in the win against Kansas, he matched his career high with five touchdown passes, and tied for second-most in a game in TCU history. The team captain also started off with a notable pass to Desmon White, giving TCU an opening-drive touchdown for the fourth time this season. Hill was 19-of-26 for 278 yards and had no interceptions.
The Horned Frogs will travel to Ames, Iowa this Saturday, Oct. 28, for a top-25 showdown, as Iowa State has landed a spot in the AP Top 25 ranking for the first time since 2005.
Martin tied a TCU record for 54-hole score with a 210 to lead the Horned Frogs to a tie for second place at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio.
Martin is one of four Horned Frogs to shoot a 210. However, she's the only one to do it twice. Her other time was at last year's Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. The senior from Odessa, Fla., recorded her second career top-5 finish. Her fourth-place result was topped only by a tie for second at last year's Greenville Regional Preview. Martin had a second round 7-under-par 65, tying for the second-best round all-time at TCU.
After this tournament, TCU will travel to Mexico to compete in the Cabo Intercollegiate beginning Nov. 3.
