Horned Frogs Fall to Northwestern

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 7 TCU men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to start the 2017 season with the loss coming on the road to No. 13 Northwestern on Friday night inside the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill.
The Horned Frogs (0-1), who were short-handed in the match against the Wildcats (2-0), went toe-to-toe in doubles but late breaks on courts one and two ultimately gave the doubles point to Northwestern.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the match with a win on court six, before Reese Stalder downed Ben Vandixhorn 6-3, 6-4, on court five. Cameron Norrie was responsible for the other TCU point as he played in his first collegiate match of the season and took out his first ranked opponent of the year in No. 26 Strong Kirchheimer, 6-4, 6-2. The remaining matches on courts two and four were extremely close, but Northwestern came out on top by taking the fourth and final point with the win at the No. 2 position.

"All the credit to Northwestern. We knew it was going to take everything we have and Northwestern did a great job defending break points in doubles which turned out to be a huge point. Just like every team in the country, there are spots where we need to improve. We will because we have the best assistant coach in the country and this team will only get better. We will make slight adjustments tomorrow in practice at Tulsa and battle it out Sunday there. It was great seeing our Chicago alumni and Frog supporters come out tonight and cheer us on."
