FORT WORTH -- Stefano Mazzoli of men's golf and Kayla Hill of women's soccer have been named TCU's Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on their outstanding skills.
In a stand off between TCU and Washington State, Hill went one-on-one with the Cougar keeper. Hill sent a low shot into the net that eluded the outstretched Ella Dederick for the lead.
The game nearly came to a close until the Cougars tied it up with only 1:17 remaining in the second half. The game concluded in a draw after 110 minutes.
TCU women's soccer (6-0-1) remains undefeated after a 1-0 match against Oral Roberts, where Hill found Brittany Little for the only goal. Hill had the perfect crossing feed to Little as her on-target shot snuck past the keeper. With last weekend's performances, Hill is currently on a four-game point streak.
The Frogs will return to action as they host Austin Peay on Friday at 7 p.m.
Mazzoli, a sophomore from Montorfano, Italy, also shined for the Horned Frogs as he picked up his first career win at the USF Olympic Invitational at The Olympic Cup. Mazzoli shot an even-par 71, and TCU's round was tied for the best of the day. Mazzoli opened the final day of the tournament by birdying three of his first seven holes. He ended up sitting at 3-under-par which edged out Loyala Marymount's Riley Elmes by one shot.
TCU shot 1-over 285 as a team that day, and Mizzoli took individual honors.
Up next, the men's golf team will host the Nike Collegiate Invitational at Colonial Country Club beginning on Sunday, Oct. 2.
