TCU Splits Day Two in Arizona

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU beach volleyball team wrapped up competition in Arizona on Friday afternoon by splitting matches with a win over Cal Poly (5-0) and a loss to No. 9 Arizona (4-1) at Jimenez Field in Tucson, Ariz.
The Horned Frogs (2-1) opened the day by picking up their second straight sweep of the season with a 5-0 win over Cal Poly. Four of the five courts were won in straight sets while Clare Ford and Blaire Pickens has a come-from-behind victory on court five. The duo dropped the first set, 21-18, but rebounded to take the final two sets 21-14, 16-14, to win the match.
In the final match in Arizona, the Frogs dropped their first match of the season to the No. 9 Wildcats (2-0), but Jaelyn Greene and Jillian Bergeson remained undefeated on the season as they picked up the lone point for TCU. The duo were able to defeat Adlee Winaen and Dora Beilin in the opening set, 21-18, before the Arizona pair came back to take a tight 24-22 second set. Greene and Bergeson found themselves trailing in the final set, but came back to take the win, 16-14, and earn their third straight victory of the season.
"I am super stoked for Jaelyn and Jillian to get TCU's very first flight win over a ranked opponent," head coach Erik Peterson said. "It was amazing to watch them fight back after being down 7-2 in the third set and come away with the victory."
