Bane Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

IRVING, Texas -- The Big 12 Conference has announced TCU freshman guard Desmond Bane as its Newcomer of the Week.
Bane had a team-best 18 points to go with seven rebounds in last week's 74-42 win over Bradley. He added three assists and a steal with no turnovers in 23 minutes. The 6-foot-5 freshman guard from Richmond, Ind., shot 50 percent from the field (6-of-12) and 3-point range (3-of-6) while making 3-of-4 free-throw attempts. His three 3-pointers came in a 1:59 stretch of the second half.
Bane's 18 points were one shy of a season-best 19 established Nov. 14 versus Alabama State. The seven rebounds equaled a season-high set Nov. 18 against Jacksonville State.
At 11-1, TCU has equaled the second-best start in program history under first-year head coach Jamie Dixon. The Horned Frogs host Kansas Friday in the Big 12 opener at 8 p.m.
