
Frogs Close Out Day Two Of IWU Invite

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The TCU swimming and diving teams closed out day two of the Incarnate Word Christmas Invitational hosted by Incarnate Word at the Palo Alto Natatorium on Sunday.
The men's team finished the day in second place with 336 points, while the women's team sits in fourth with 182 points.
Freshman Megan White recorded the only Horned Frog victory of the day with a score of 257.20 in the 3-meter dive.
Junior Carlos Hunnicutt placed third in the 500 free finals at 4:35.19. Junior Connor Dobbs also earned his way to the "A" finals and logged a seventh-place time of 4:39.64.
Three Frogs earned a spot in the 200 IM finals. Sophomore Tommy Thach led the effort with a sixth-place finish at 1:53.00. Hunnicutt followed closely at 1:55.01, and freshman Migs Martin clocked in at 1:56.67 to round out the "A" finals. Hunnicutt also went on to record the second fastest 400 IM time of the day with a time of 3:58.95 in the prelims.
Freshman Radu Duican led the way in the 100 back prelims as he raced to a time of 51.20, placing first. Jake Powell placed third (51.49), and senior Chris Hearl placed fifth (52.09).
In the men's 50 free finals, senior Garrett Hills finished in fourth behind a time of 21.21. Junior John Smith also earned his way to the "A" finals as he placed seventh at 21.45.
On the diving end, sophomore Andrew Shurtleff earned second in the 1 meter with a finals score of 274.30. Freshman Owen Moncino walked away with bronze after a posting a score of 269.95. On the platform, Moncino took home second (232.15) and Shurtleff placed third (211.85).
The women's 200 free relay team of freshmen Madie Sandberg, Hannah Dooley, Amanda Key and sophomore Bryn Lohrberg logged a time of 1:39.28 en route to a seventh-place finish.
Sophomore Ally Robertson placed sixth in the 200 IM "B" finals at 2:11.89, and junior Devin Newton finished in eighth at 2:12.41.
TCU will conclude the Christmas Invitational at 4 p.m. on Monday at Incarnate Word's Anne Barshop Natatorium.
