The Opponent
Arkansas State, who is receiving votes in this week's AP poll, comes into Saturday night with a 7-1 record after defeating Cleveland State, 78-51. Against CSU, Tamas Bruce led the way, scoring a team-high 16 points on 5-of-5 from the field. Deven Simms was also in double-figures with 15 points and five rebounds.
On the season, Devin Carter leads the way, averaging 14.9 points per game and 3.9 rebounds a contest. Simms follows with a 12.2 average and 5.0 boards in six games of action.
The Series
TCU and Arkansas State will battle for only the fifth time in program history Saturday. The series is currently tied at 2-2. ASU won the last outing in 2003, 64-58, inside Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Undefeated Teams
By taking down Washington in its last outing, 86-71, TCU became one of only 15 remaining undefeated teams in the NCAA this season as of Thursday. The other 14 teams are: Kentucky, Villanova, Virginia, Baylor, Xavier, Creighton, UCLA, Gonzaga, Butler, Saint Mary's, South Carolina, USC, Notre Dame and Texas A&M-CC.
Forcing Turnovers
TCU forced Washington into 25 turnovers Wednesday night, marking the second time this season that the Frogs have forced an opponent into 20 or more turnovers in a game. On the season, TCU is 6-0 when tallying fewer turnovers than its opponent.
To put it into perspective, the Purple and White, who only had nine turnovers Wednesday night against the Huskies, currently sit No. 10 in turnover margin in the NCAA, while ranking No. 6 in turnovers forced nationally.
Building A Bench
Against Washington, TCU out-scored the Huskies off the bench in the last two games, 89-42. In the last four games alone, the Horned Frogs have outscored the opposition a combined total of 166-63. For the season, the Frogs have outscored the opposition off the bench, 258-114.
It's A Start
By defeating Washington in back-to-back games, head coach Jamie Dixon became the first first-year head coach in program history to start his career with a 7-0 record. TCU last started a season 7-0 in 2014-15 when the Horned Frogs went 13-0 in non-conference play. Overall, the 7-0 start marks only the fourth time in program history that a team has opened its season at 7-0.
Robinson Shining Early And Often
Sophomore Alex Robinson had a career-night in the Global Sports Classic championship game against Washington with a season and career-high 24 points on a career-high 7-of-13 shooting from the field, including a career-high 4-of-6 from deep. The sophomore, who was named to the all-tournament team, came back to torch the Huskies for 16 points and seven assists Wednesday night.
Grab The Rock
Junior Kenrich Williams, who record a double-double against Washington Wednesday with 10 points and 10 rebounds, posted a career-high 18 rebounds in TCU's 63-59 victory over UNLV. His 18 boards were the most since fellow teammate Karviar Shepherd posted 19 a year ago against Delaware State. His 18 rebounds are the most in a single-game in the Big 12 Conference this season and is tied for the 13th highest in the NCAA this year.
Numbers Tell The Story For Fisher
TCU freshman Jaylen Fisher currently ranks 12th among all freshmen nationally in total assists with 32. He also ranks No. 12 overall among freshmen in the NCAA in assists per game with 4.6.
November Numbers
TCU improved to 45-16 during the month of November since 2008 with its 86-71 win over Washington. Jamie Dixon is now 77-6 during the month of November as a head coach.
TCU Notes
TCU and Arkansas State will face each other for a fifth time in the all-time series Saturday.
TCU head coach Jamie Dixon is 80-11 during the month of December.
TCU currently ranks No. 6 in turnovers forced in the NCAA.
Jaylen Fisher currently ranks 12th among all freshmen nationally in total assists with 32.
Desmond Bane, the Global Sports Classic MVP, has scored 10 or more points in four out of the seven games.
Brandon Parrish played in his 104th game Wednesday and is a 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team® nominee.
Parrish needs to play in only 15 more games to move into the top-10 all-time in games played in school history.
Karviar Shepherd is now No. 7 all-time in career starts at TCU with 92. He will play in his 100th game Saturday.
Shepherd has tallied 571 career rebounds and needs only 129 to become only the 10th player all-time to capture 700 boards.
Alex Robinson has recorded nine games of five or more assists in his career. He had seven against Washington.
Robinson,who was named to the all-tournament team in Vegas, has led TCU in assists fives times this season.
Robinson scored a career-high 24 points against Washington last Saturday night.
Kenrich Williams grabbed a career-high 18 boards against UNLV.
Williams' 18 boards are the most in the Big 12 Conference this season and tied for the 13th most in the NCAA.
Williams posted his second double-double of the season versus Washington with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
