WELCOME TRUSTEES
It's great to have our Board of Trustees on campus this week. They are the wind beneath our wings! Their leadership provides the support that makes it possible for our student-athletes and coaches to be successful. We can't thank them enough.
MOVEMBER
In case we happen to cross paths and I appear to look like Grizzly Adams, it's part of TCU's campus initiative to raise awareness and fundraising for prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and general well-being in men. The razors have been put away for November for Movember!
HISTORY MADE!
Congratulations to head coach Eric Bell, his staff and especially the student-athletes in our women's soccer program on earning the first NCAA Tournament bid in program history! We earned our selection after a great run at the Big 12 Championship, where we lost a heartbreaker in overtime to No. 1 West Virginia.
We host Texas A&M Saturday at 7 p.m. in a first-round match at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. Tickets are available at GoFrogs.com or by calling 817.257.FROG (3764).
HOOPS SEASON IS HERE
Basketball season has finally arrived! Our men's and women's teams open their respective campaigns with a Friday doubleheader in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. The men make their debut under new head coach Jamie Dixon at 6 p.m. when they host St. Thomas, while the women face Incarnate Word at 8:30 p.m.
Make sure to arrive early for the men's basketball game as we'll be distributing Jamie Dixon bobble heads! Click HERE to see the new Nike uniforms we'll be wearing this year. Also, as we have at all our athletics facilities, a clear bag policy is in effect at the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
A limited number of season tickets remain available for the men. Click HERE to make your purchase. Women's basketball season tickets are available HERE.
A WORLD CHAMPION
It was great to see Jake Arrieta play such a major role in the Chicago Cubs' first World Series championship since 1908. Jake won both of his starts in Cleveland. Over the last 11 years, we've had eight former TCU student-athletes on Super Bowl or World Series title teams:
Jake Arrieta - Chicago Cubs (2016 World Series)
Josh Boyce - New England Patriots (Super Bowl XLIX)
Marcus Cannon - New England Patriots (Super Bowl XLIX)
Clint Gresham - Seattle Seahawks (Super Bowl XLVIII)
Marshall Newhouse - Green Bay Packers (Super Bowl XLV)
Jared Retkofsky - Pittsburgh Steelers (Super Bowl XLIII)
Bo Schobel - Indianapolis Colts (Super Bowl XLI)
Michael Toudouze - Indianapolis Colts (Super Bowl XLI)
ANGIE IS HERE TO STAY
Angie Ravaiol-Larkin has been an institution on campus as our women's golf coach. She has led us to 20 postseason appearances in the last 21 years, including seven trips to the NCAA Championships. We have won 18 conference tournaments under Angie's leadership, and she has been a five-time conference coach of the year in three different leagues.
I'm excited to announce that Angie has signed a contract extension to 2021. Angie has truly enhanced the student-athlete experience for those in her program, and we're proud to call her a Horned Frog!
HORNED FROGS FAMILY
Even if they didn't overlap at TCU as teammates, they're still part of the Horned Frogs Football Family. The below photo of Buffalo Bill Jerry Hughes, flanked by Seattle Seahawks Trevone Boykin and Joey Hunt, was taken after Monday night's game in Seattle.
ON THE DOCKET
In addition to our Friday men's and women's home basketball doubleheader as well as Saturday's historic soccer debut in the NCAA Tournament, we also have rifle home this weekend against Air Force.
Volleyball is at Kansas; cross country heads to the NCAA Regionals in Fayetteville, Ark.; equestrian will compete against Delaware State and Baylor in Waco; and women's tennis is at the UNLV Invitational.

COMPLIANCE CORNER
Ocean State University (OSU) recently hired a new director of marketing and promotions. This individual would like to earn some extra income by serving as the men's and women's basketball game announcer for a local high school. OSU is not recruiting any prospects that attend this high school. Is it permissible for him to work these games since OSU is not recruiting any prospects from that high school?
No. NCAA Official Interpretation - 11/2/16 - Announcer or Commentator for a Prospective Student-Athlete's Athletics Contest (I) - states that a member of the athletics staff of a member institution is precluded from serving as an announcer or commentator for any athletics contest in which a prospective student-athlete is participating from the beginning of pregame (e.g., warm-up activities) activities through the conclusion of post-game activities (e.g., postgame interviews).
