FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's swimming and diving team will resume Big 12 competition as they host Iowa State at 6 p.m. (CT) on Friday, Nov. 4, at the University Recreation Center.
The Series
TCU (1-1, 0-1) holds a 1-2 all-time dual record against the Cyclones. The Horned Frogs took the first ever matchup between the schools with a 160.5-139.5 victory in 2013. Last year, Iowa State topped the Frogs 169-130 in Ames.
Strong Start
The Frogs opened the season with a 121-76 win over Texas-Permian Basin with solid performances by freshmen on the roster. Nicqueline Rettberg took home first in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles with times of 54.71 and 1:56.80, respectively, while Hannah Burt led the pool in the 200 IM (2:12.22) and the 500 free (5:13.42). Claire Munster logged a first-place time of 24.80 in the women's 50 free, and freshman Elise Forzley took care of business in the 100 fly, finishing with a first-place time of 59.68.
Forzley, who was a 2016 Olympic trials qualifier, continued her impressive start last week against Kansas as she took home first place in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.28. She also logged second-place marks in the 100 back (57.24) and 200 IM (2:08.96). On the diving end, junior Ty Sides swept both the 1 and 3-meter dives against the Jayhawks.
Scouting the Cyclones
Iowa State is also 1-1 this season after most recently topping Nebraska-Omaha, 154-85. Freshman Keely Soellner and junior Laura Miksch have led the team in sprints, with Soellner holding the team's top 200 free time this season at 1:54.74. Miksch has logged back-to-back first-place finishes in the 50 free this season. In the diving well, senior Jule Dickinson heads the squad.
