
Rifle Wraps Up Road Swing At Murray State

FORT WORTH – Fresh off ascending to the top of the CRCA poll, the TCU rifle team will wrap up a four match road swing Saturday at No. 5 Murray State.
The Horned Frogs have gotten off to a blistering start to the 2016-17 campaign, firing three of the top four scores in the NCAA this season. TCU's season aggregate average through three matches sits at 4,713.
The Frogs have been a steady force in both disciplines with three of the top four scores in smallbore and the top two air rifle marks in the country. The Frogs are averaging a 2,377 in air rifle and a 2,336 in smallbore.
Mindy Miles has produced TCU's top aggregate score this year, 1,186, a mark that ranks second in the NCAA. She has fired a 597 or better in air rifle in all three matches this season, including a 599 in the second match of the season, which leads all shooters in the country. Rachel Garner has shot a 593 or higher in all three matches.
Ariana Grabowski and Casey Lutz have set the tone in smallbore with each shooting a 582 or better in all three matches this season. Miles' has also produced high scores as her 589 in the last match is tied for third best in the NCAA this season.
Murray State enters Saturday's match ranked fifth nationally. The Races are averaging a team score of 4,693 in its two matches this season. They finished first at the 2016 Ole Miss Invitational that featured seven programs.
Ivan Roe has been Murray State's top shooter in both matches this season. The junior boasts a 590 average in smallbore and a 591 average in air rifle. He owns two of the top three smallbore scores in the country this season. Mackenzie Martin has also gotten off to a solid start this season posting a team-high 592 average in air rifle.
