A NO-NO FOR JAKE!
Congratulations to Horned Frog and now Chicago Cub Jake Arrieta on his Sunday night no-hitter against the Dodgers! As you know, Jake had a great career for us. His two years in a TCU uniform included being an All-American and leading the nation with 14 wins in 2006.
ARRIVAL IN MINNESOTA
Our football program arrived in Minneapolis yesterday for tonight's season opener against Minnesota. We're excited to hear about how many of you are headed to the game. If you can't make it, we know there will be plenty of watching parties. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. with the game televised on ESPN.
WATCHING PARTIES
The official TCU Athletics Watching Party in Fort Worth for our football game at Minnesota is at Landmark in the West 7th area. Game-day specials will be available. CLICK HERE to see the TCU Alumni watching parties from across the nation.
WELCOME BACK ESPN!
Our football program continues to receive outstanding exposure as we hosted ESPN again on campus Tuesday. Reporter Jeannine Edwards contributed several live SportsCenter reports on the Horned Frogs. You can also catch some of her pieces today.
SINGLE-GAME TICKET SALES
As a reminder, we'll begin single-game football ticket sales for Stephen F. HONOR ROLL
We're proud of volleyball's Regan McGuire on being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week! The Flower Mound native was named Most Valuable Player of the Crosstown Classic as she led us to three wins while totaling 26 kills, a .575 hitting percentage and 15 total blocks.
FROGS IN THE COMMUNITY
Kudos to our swimming and diving program for their work in the community! A group of student-athletes from head coach Richard Sybesma's squad spent their summer coaching youth swim teams at Colonial Country Club. It was very rewarding to see the positive feedback on how well our Horned Frogs represented themselves.
ED AND RAE SCHOLLMAIER ARENA UPDATE
We continue to make great progress on the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. Our women's basketball program, led by head coach Raegan Pebley in the below photo, enjoyed a visit over the weekend to the new home of TCU basketball.
ON THE DOCKET
Our soccer program, fresh off Sunday's 2-0 win at Illinois State, makes its 2015 home debut with a pair of contests this weekend. We'll host Maryland on Friday at 7 p.m. and Oral Roberts on Sunday at 1 p.m. Volleyball, with a 3-0 record that includes three straight three-game sweeps at this past weekend's Crosstown Classic, travels to San Diego for matches against Dartmouth, San Diego State and San Diego. Cross country opened its season Tuesday at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Vince Vaughn, as Dodgeball star Peter La Fleur, said, "Thank you, Chuck Norris."
This Week: "You took him from "geek" status to "king" status to no status."
