Notes on a Scorecard
8/27/2015 12:00:00 AM | General
It's great to have the TCU student body back on campus! We wish the absolute best to everyone on a very successful semester in the classroom.
SINGLE-GAME TICKET SALES
We'll begin our single-game football ticket sales next Saturday, Sept. 5, at 8 a.m. Just CLICK HERE to make your purchase. Please note the Texas and Baylor games are already sold out. Standing room only (SRO) tickets for those contests will go on sale the Monday of each respective game week.

BIG 12 MEETINGS
I spent the first part of this week in New Orleans with my conference counterparts at the Big 12 AD meetings. I've received a lot of phone calls, and there's been media coverage on the topics we discussed. As Commissioner Bowlsby noted, we are looking at an incoming transfer policy similar to the SEC. The legislative process begins with the athletics directors and faculty athletics representatives. It then moves up to the presidents and chancellors for adoption and to put the ball in motion. Overall, it was a very productive time with my counterparts for whom I have the highest level of respect.
SOCIAL MEDIA
With social media becoming a staple in our lives, especially for our student-athletes, we have undergone an educational training program for everyone in our athletics program. This includes not just student-athletes but also coaches, administrators and support staff. Included below is a photo from Wednesday night's training session with student-athletes in our Four Sevens Team Room.

ED AND RAE SCHOLLMAIER ARENA
Our new $72 million basketball home is coming along! I thought you might enjoy seeing the below aerial photo of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.

MEET THE FROGS
It was great to see so many of you at this past Saturday's Meet The Frogs. There's no doubt it was our largest crowd ever. Trevone Boykin was obviously a popular guy that day, and he displayed his Horned Frog Factor by staying until 4:30 p.m., 90 minutes after the scheduled completion of the event, to make sure everyone in line was able to receive an autograph.
ON THE DOCKET
Our new era in volleyball begins this weekend as we host the Crosstown Classic in the Rec Center. Jill (Pape) Kramer, our first-ever student-athlete in the sport, is now back as our new director of volleyball. We'll host Abilene Christian and Texas State on Friday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, as well as UTEP on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Soccer continues its early-season road swing with games at Illinois on Friday night and Illinois State on Sunday afternoon.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Rodney Dangerfield, as non-traditional college student Thornton Melon in Back to School, said, "The football team at my high school, they were tough. After they sacked the quarterback, they went after his family."
This Week: "Thank you, Chuck Norris."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Ocean State University (OSU) is opening up its football season on the road next weekend. Two of the student-athletes on the team transferred to OSU this fall and therefore must serve a year in residency before being eligible to compete. The coaches would really like these two student-athletes to travel with the team, so they decide to make them team managers. Is that permissible?
No. NCAA Staff Interpretation - 8/5/87 - Redshirt serving as team manager and traveling with the team - states that a member institution asked whether a transfer student who is serving a residence requirement could serve as the team manager, and thus be permitted to receive expenses to travel with the team. The staff concluded that this would not be permissible, inasmuch as Constitution 3-1-(g)-(2)-(iii) indicates that a student-athlete who is not eligible to compete may not receive expenses to travel with the team. The staff noted, however, that this legislation does not preclude an "intentional redshirt" from traveling with the team, inasmuch as a "redshirt" is technically eligible to compete.
