June 24, 2015 CONGRATULATIONS BASEBALL!
Please join me in congratulating and thanking our baseball program for the incredible journey they took us on this season. What a ride! With a Big 12 regular-season championship, an eighth-inning comeback from an 8-1 deficit versus NC State, a 16-inning victory over Texas A&M and being one of just four teams left at the College World Series, it was a special team and season! We're incredibly proud of head coach Jim Schlossnagle, his staff and student-athletes!

WOMEN'S FOOTBALL CLINIC
Please mark your calendar for Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. when our annual and popular Gary Patterson Women's Football Clinic will be held in the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility. All proceeds will benefit Girls Inc. CLICK HERE for more information and to register. This year's event will be hosted by Erin Hartigan of FOX Sports Southwest.
FROM THE HARD HATS
It's definitely an exciting and busy time with construction, keeping senior associate athletics director for facilities T. Ross Bailey hopping. We currently have eight projects on the docket. While the basketball renovation is the most visible, there are also upgrades scheduled for our equestrian, rifle, soccer, track and field and volleyball facilities. Additionally, we have general maintenance scheduled in Amon G. Carter Stadium.
SOCCER AND VOLLEYBALL SEASON TICKETS AVAILABLE
While we're definitely excited about our sellout of football season tickets, please note that on July 1 we'll have soccer and volleyball season tickets going on sale. It promises to be an exciting season for both programs.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
In addition to the great season we enjoyed athletically, it was also an outstanding year for us academically. Congratulations to men's golfer Julien Brun and women's tennis player Stefanie Tan on being named this week as Big 12 Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective sports! With Katelyn Gray previously receiving the honor in equestrian, we've had three Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients this season.

TCU NIGHT
As an added attraction to the July 8 TCU Night at the Rangers' game, our baseball program will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony. Also, Trevone Boykin will be throwing out the first pitch.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: We went back to the 1980 classic Airplane!, when Robert Hayes, as pilot Ted Striker, said, "Surely, you can't be serious."

This Week: My friend TCU Doug submits the following quote, "Age is no guarantee of efficiency."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The Ocean State University (OSU) volleyball coaches are finalizing their preseason schedule. OSU's first contest is Friday, Aug. 28, and the first day of classes is Monday, Aug. 24. Which of the following is true?
A. The team can report to campus on Aug. 10 and begin practicing on Aug. 11
B. The team can report to campus on Aug. 9 and begin practicing on Aug. 10
C. The team can report to campus on Aug. 12 and begin practicing on Aug. 13
D. None of the above
The answer is A. NCAA Bylaw 17.25.2 states that a member institution shall not commence practice sessions in women's volleyball prior to the date that permits a maximum of 29 units (see Bylaw 17.02.11) prior to the first scheduled intercollegiate contest (excluding the early alumni match) or Sept. 1, whichever is later. If the first scheduled contest occurs before Sept. 1, the institution shall count back one practice unit for each day (excluding Sundays) from Sept. 1 (beginning with Aug. 31) through the date of the first scheduled contest. Thereafter, the institution shall apply the formula as prescribed in Bylaw 17.02.11. An institution may not begin practice in its segment in which the NCAA Championship is not conducted until Jan. 1.
