The first five Pioneers (23-32-1) reached with base hits in the top of the third with and RBI single by Jayson Sullivan and an RBI sac fly by Matt Charmello plated two SHU runs to trim the lead to 7-2.
The Seawolves tacked on two more in the third and one each in the fifth and sixth innings, while the Pioneers added a run in the fifth and three in the eighth to cut the lead to five.
Nicholas Dieva (3-1) earned the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief in which he allowed three run on three hits while fanning three. Jason Foley (3-7), who allowed five runs in the first, suffered the loss for Sacred Heart.
Stony Brook recorded 17 hits in the win with three each from Toby Handley and Jack Parenty, while Chavarria, Baker, Andruw Gazzola and Bobby Honeyman added two each. Baker drove in a team-high four runs, while Chavarria and Nachmanoff drove in two each.
The Pioneers tallied 15 hits, but stranded 15 base runners. Cody Doyle went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, while Sullivan, Jesus Medina, Zack Short, and Victor Sorrento had two hits each.
