March 4, 2015 PROGRAM DEBUT
Our historic debut season in sand volleyball is finally here! We begin competition Friday at Arizona. We'll play a total of four matches in Arizona, before heading to Southern California for contests at Cal State Northridge, Pepperdine and USC. Best wishes to head sand volleyball coach Erik Peterson and his squad!

TOURNEY TIME
Our women's basketball program has earned the No. 3 seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship this weekend at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. We'll have a first-round bye and face No. 6-seed Texas on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Congratulations to Chelsea Prince on being named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and to Zahna Medley and Veja Hamilton for being named to the All-Big 12 Team.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We'll be hosting the Big 12 Equestrian Championships March 27-28 at our home facility at Turning Point Ranch in Springtown. Volunteers are needed for help in various capacities, beginning with set up on Wednesday, March 25. Tasks would range from assisting judges to arranging the arenas and clean up. If interested, please contact T. Ross Bailey, TCU Senior Associate Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations, at r.bailey@tcu.edu or (817) 257-7009.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
We're very proud of swimming and diving's Sara Brzozowski on being named a recipient of the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12 Conference's top academic honor. Sara is a distance swimmer and nursing major from Brookfield, Wis. She holds school records in the 1000 free (9:57.93), 1650 free (16:37.26) and the 800 free relay (7:15.12) while also maintaining a near 4.0 grade-point average.

OUR LATEST BIG 12 CHAMPION
Congratulations to Cameron Echols-Luper on winning the long jump at the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships last weekend! Cam's winning leap was a 7.61m (24-11.75). He will now advance to the NCAA Championships next weekend (March 13-15) in Fayetteville, Ark. Also a football standout and an All-Big 12 selection as a return specialist, Cam has accomplished the rare feat of being a Big 12 champion in two different sports.

ARRIVE EARLY
Our final home men's basketball game is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. versus Iowa State at Wilkerson-Greines. It will be Senior Night as we recognize Kyan Anderson, Amric Fields and Trey Zeigler in a pre-game ceremony. Please make every effort to arrive early as we pay tribute to these outstanding young men. Amric and Trey are already TCU graduates, having earned their degrees in December.

ON THE DOCKET
In addition to our key men's and women's basketball games mentioned above and the debut of our sand volleyball program, it's another big weekend ahead for our sports programs and student-athletes. If you're in Southern California, make sure to check out our top-ranked baseball program as it makes its way through Los Angeles. We'll be at USC and UCLA on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. On Sunday, at 11:45 a.m. PST, it's the Horned Frogs at Dodger Stadium against defending national champion Vanderbilt. We'll then play at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday night.

Equestrian will also be in California this weekend with competitions in Fresno against Fresno State and Georgia. Men's tennis, up to No. 13 in the national rankings, hits the road for matches on Friday at Middle Tennessee and Sunday at Wake Forest. Women's tennis, ranked 27th, is at SMU on Thursday night.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: The great Rodney Dangerfield, as Thornton Melon in Back to School, said, "The football team at my high school, they were tough. After they sacked the quarterback, they went after his family."
This Week: "I'm with the Mattress Police."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
A few student-athletes were asked to participate in this month's poll in the campus newspaper. The poll is "A few of my favorite things..." where students list their favorite restaurant, clothing store, etc. Is it permissible for the student-athletes to participate in this student poll since they will be asked to list commercial establishments?
Yes with conditions. NCAA Staff Interpretation - 2/20/15 - Student-Athlete Providing Opinions on a Commercial Product or Service (I) - states that a student-athlete may provide an opinion about a commercial product or service, as long as no individual associated in any manner with the commercial product or service is involved in directing the student-athlete to issue the opinion, and the student-athlete does not receive any benefits from any source in conjunction with his or her opinion.
