BUFFALOES AND CARDINAL
We're very excited to announce the addition of a football home-and-home series with Colorado (2022-23) and Stanford (2024 and 2027). These two Pac-12 opponents add to our upcoming non-conference schedules that already include home-and-homes with Arkansas (2016-17), Ohio State (2018-19) and Cal (2020-21). Our Sept. 3 season opener at Minnesota concludes a series with the Golden Gophers.
As many of you know, we had mentioned previously that we were in discussions with some Pac-12 members on future games. We agreed in principle on these series prior to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. It just took a little longer than anticipated to get the contracts reviewed and signed to make it official.
As you might have noticed, we have an opening in the 2025 and 2026 seasons. We're in the process of finalizing an opponent to fill that gap and will keep you posted when everything is set.
DEADLINE NEARING
As a reminder, we're in the final two weeks for renewals of football season tickets. The deadline is Monday, April 6. You can renew online, via mail or by contacting or dropping by our Athletics Ticket Office. Please call (817) 257-FROG (3764) if you have any questions.
FROGVISION
We extend our apologies to those of you who have experienced frustration with the quality of our video stream at home baseball games. It's been a topic of discussion for us internally in our department as well as with those we work with on campus. We are always committed to providing the best quality product in everything we do and assure you we will get better.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Congratulations to equestrian's Alexi Child on becoming our latest recipient of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship! Alexi truly defines student-athlete. In addition to being a two-time All-American, she has a 4.0 grade-point average while majoring in movement science. She was also a Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year. You might remember track and field's Justin Chambers was an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient last year.
DESIGN THE COURT
We're now over 30 submissions in our Design the Court contest for next year's new TCU basketball home. I've already seen a few of the submissions, and there's a lot of creativity among our Horned Frog Nation! Please remember you can submit as many entries as you like. Just visit our website (www.GoFrogs.com) to download a blank court template and start your design work. The winner will be invited to see the design being applied to the new court, as well as receiving four lower-level tickets to both the men's and women's home openers in the new facility!
POSTSEASON RUN
We're proud of our women's basketball program on a great season! We finished 18-14 after Sunday's tough overtime defeat at Southern Miss in the second round of the WNIT. We thank a terrific senior class of Donielle Breaux, Chelsea Prince and Natalie Ventress. They were fun to watch and have laid the groundwork for future success. There's definitely momentum under head coach Raegan Pebley and her staff.
UPCOMING BASEBALL PROMOTIONS
We have more fun planned for you with this weekend's home baseball series versus Wichita State. Friday's 6:30 p.m. opener will be Neon Night. Fans and students are also invited to join the pregame left field tailgate in Lot 13. Saturday's 2 p.m. game will be Fun in the Sun. On Sunday, the 1 p.m. series finale will be Kids Day with $1 hot dogs, inflatable games and face painting. Following the game, kids can run the bases and get autographs from the Horned Frogs.
FROGS IN THE ATL
Even after our Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl appearance, it's still great to see Atlanta being painted purple. Included below, courtesy of Chapter President Matt Martin, is a photo from this past weekend's Atlanta Alumni Event at the College Football Hall of Fame.
ON THE DOCKET
We hope to see you in Springtown on Friday and Saturday as we host the Big 12 Equestrian Championships at Turning Point Ranch. We also have the three-game home baseball series with Wichita State mentioned above. We're currently ranked second in the nation and also No. 1 in the country when it comes to attendance by a private school.
Women's tennis, ranked 21st, has home matches Friday at 5:30 p.m. versus Oklahoma State and Sunday at 1 p.m. against Oklahoma. We're 3-1 in Big 12 play with all four matches played on the road. Men's tennis, ranked 18th, opens conference action this weekend with matches at OU and OSU.
Track and field heads to Austin for the Texas Relays, while both golf programs will be in tournaments this weekend. The men head to Las Vegas for the Southern Highlands Collegiate, while the women travel to Baton Rouge for the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Will Ferrell, as noted newsman Ron Burgundy in Anchorman, said, "I'm in a glass case of emotion."
This Week: "By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?"
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The baseball coaches at Ocean State University are working on their camp itineraries for this summer. There is still a little bit of free time on the first day, so the coaches would like to conduct campus wide tours. Is this permissible?
No. The coaches can only arrange for or provide a tour of the facilities that are utilized during the camp.
NCAA Official Interpretation - 3/13/15 - Campus Tours in Conjunction with Camps or Clinics (I) - states that it is not permissible for an institution to conduct a campus tour in conjunction with an institutional sports camp or clinic. The committee noted that a prospective student-athlete may participate in a campus tour that is generally available to all prospective students, provided the athletics department is not involved in conducting or arranging the tour and does not encourage participation in the tour. In addition, the institution may conduct a tour of facilities that are utilized during the camp or clinic (e.g., residential hall, cafeteria, training room).
