March 18, 2015 NATIONAL CHAMPION!
We have another national champion! Congratulations to Ronnie Baker on capturing the 60 meters at this past weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships! Ronnie's winning time was a school record 6.52. As my college coach once told me, "You can't teach speed."

TOP PERFORMANCES
Ronnie Baker's 60-meter title led our men into an overall tie for seventh at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. We also had several other performances of note. Rifle finished third at the NCAA Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska, while our 18th-ranked men's tennis program blanked No. 4 Illinois, 4-0, on Monday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Congrats also to Cody Jones! Our senior outfielder was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after going 8-of-9 at the plate as our top-ranked baseball program opened conference play with a three-game sweep of Baylor.
POSTSEASON HOOPS
We're very proud of our women's basketball program reaching the postseason for the 13th time in the last 15 seasons. We'll be hosting Stephen F. Austin in a first-round WNIT game on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Rec Center.

Our men's basketball program made great strides this season, closing the campaign at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship with a win over Kansas State and then a tough loss in the final minute to Kansas. We're extremely proud of the effort and thank a terrific senior class of Kyan Anderson, Amric Fields and Trey Zeigler for laying the groundwork for future success.
DESIGN THE COURT
Speaking of hoops, we've already received over 20 submissions in our Design the Court contest. The winner will be invited to see the design being applied to the new court, as well as receiving four lower-level tickets to both the men's and women's home openers in the new facility!

COMPLIANCE CORNER
Stutter Step is a freshman track and field student-athlete at Ocean State University (OSU). Stutter is receiving a full athletic scholarship during the 2014-15 academic year. The OSU football coaches have talked to Stutter about playing football next year. If Stutter plays football during the 2015-16 academic year and receives athletic aid, does he have to count as an initial counter in the sport of football since he received athletic aid the previous year for a different sport?
Yes. NCAA Bylaw 15.5.9.1.1 states that a counter who previously has not been counted in football shall be considered an initial counter even though the student-athlete already has received countable financial aid in another sport.
