No. 17 TCU Falls to No. 3 Virginia, 4-0

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 17 TCU men's tennis team dropped its first match of the 2015 season with a 4-0 loss to No. 3 Virginia in the opening round of the 2015 ITA National Indoor Team Championships in Chicago, Ill.
The Horned Frogs (5-1) faced their first top-5 ranked opponent of the season in the Cavaliers (6-0) and were able to win one of the doubles matches in their first appearance at the indoor championships since 2001.
In the doubles portion of the match, Virginia was able to get the first win with a victory on court three, but the No. 24 ranked doubles duo of Nick Chappell and Will Stein were able to even up the battle with a 7-5 victory at the No. 1 position over No. 37 Ryan Shane and Luca Corintelli. The senior pair were down 5-2 in the match before rallying off five straight games to win the match for their sixth victory this season over a ranked opponent.
The doubles point would come down to the match on court two and the freshman duo of Guillermo Nuñez and Cameron Norrie went into a tiebreaker with No. 41 ranked Mac Styslinger and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski. The pair were unsuccessful in the tiebreaker, falling 7-2, as the Cavaliers snatched the doubles point.
Virginia was quick to jump out to the lead in singles action and took straight-set victories at No.1, 2 and 3 singles to complete the victory.
Stein and Nuñez were in the midst of the third set of their courts before the match was called, while Trevor Johnson was taking on No. 61 Styslinger in a tiebreaker on court six.
TCU will continue action at the indoor championships on Saturday and will face No. 6 Duke at 9 a.m., at the Midtown Athletic Club.
