TCU junior guard Michael Williams came out of high school ranked as a three-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com. He was seen as a heavy point-guard prospect by recruiters. ESPN ranked the San Antonio native among the top-20 players in his home state.
Williams earned his first career start at TCU against Grambling State and Tulsa during the 2013-2014 season. As a freshman, he came off the bench for 28 games, and logged a career-high of 14 points and six assists against Grambling State.
The guard logged 17 games, six of which were league games, during the following season. He scored a season-high nine points against Mississippi Valley State in November. Williams concluded his sophomore season earning recognition for Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
The Horned Frogs take on Washington on Dec. 8 at 10 p.m. CT in Seattle, Wash.
Senior Hannah Black entered her college career at TCU carrying titles in air rifle as a four-time National Junior Olympic participant. She won the 2010 American Legion National Championship in Air Rifle.
The senior from Richmond, Va. earned Top 10 placement 11 times in her first season at TCU. Behind Celeste Green in 2006, Black became the first Horned Frog to qualify as an individual for the NCAA Championships. Firing 594 in the air rifle discipline, Black earned fifth-place at the NCAA Championships as a freshman.
Her sophomore year, Black placed second among three criteria: air rifle, smallbore and aggregate. She concluded her second season at TCU leading the Frogs at the NCAA Championships with an aggregate of 1,164.
Her junior year marked the best season to date on a national and international level. Black was recognized as a second-team All-American by the NRA for both air rifle and smallbore. She teamed up with Sally Li, and both were recognized as the No. 20 and No. 21 Horned Frogs to ever earn such an honor. Black competed in competitions in Mexico, Korea and Germany.
Last season, she recorded her personal-bests for air rifle (597) and aggregate (1,181) in the Feb. 21 NCAA Qualifier at Air Force.
Black's air rifle and smallbore score has improved by eight to 12 points over the last two years.
TCU Rifle competes with Ohio State on Sunday, Jan. 17 in Fort Worth, Texas.
