ED AND RAE SCHOLLMAIER ARENA OPENING
We are incredibly excited to welcome you to the official grand opening of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena on Dec. 15. A few days later, on Dec. 19, the first actual event in the facility will be TCU's fall commencement. The next day, Sunday, Dec. 20, our men's and women's basketball programs will participate in the historic first games in the new arena when they play an afternoon doubleheader.
I know there has been some disappointment that the arena would not be ready for our men's and women's season openers as we had planned since the outset of construction in Spring 2014. I can assure you that no one is more disappointed for our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans than I am. Collectively, we have been working around-the-clock with the common goal of finishing the arena in time to play a full season in our new basketball home. However, unforeseen delays and other contributing circumstances have recently put us in a position where the only option was to delay the opening. We were notified of this Tuesday.
I sincerely apologize to our season-ticket holders, those with donor parking and fans for this inconvenience. However, I am confident that once you come to Schollmaier Arena, you will agree that this truly is one of the finest athletics facilities in the country. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Our donor recognition dinner for the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena will still take place as scheduled, inside the facility, on Thursday, Nov. 12.
MOVEMBER
In case you happen to come across my staff and I, and we look a little different in the face, we're supporting TCU's campus initiative to raise awareness and fundraising for prostate and testicular cancer, mental health and general well being in men. The razors have been put aside for the moment.
CLASSROOM EXCELLENCE
Congratulations to our football program on topping the Big 12 in graduation rate at 84 percent! Credit also goes to Assistant Athletics Director for Athletics Academic Services Shawn Worthen and Associate Director Ray Walls for their leadership in that area. Many of you know Shawn from his playing days with us. Like Shawn, Ray also played in the NFL. Shawn and Ray, as well as the entire staff in athletics academic services, do a great job with our student-athletes in all sports.
WI-FI

Due to the construction on the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, we unfortunately had some fiber cut inside Amon G. Carter Stadium. It affected the Wifi in the 200 level at last week's football game versus West Virginia. We sincerely apologize for the issues it caused many of you. Everything should be intact for our next home game, a week from Saturday versus Kansas.
FROGS A POPULAR DRAW
The ratings numbers continue to show that our football program is a major draw in Dallas-Fort Worth, the nation's No. 5 television market. Our season-best rating was a 7.2 for the Texas Tech game. We were also at 7.0 for Kansas State, 5.8 for Minnesota and 5.5 on the Texas game. Competing against the NFL last week, we still had an impressive 3.2 rating on FS1. On multiple occasions this fall, we have been the top-rated college football game in DFW.
GREAT WINS!
In case you missed it last week, congratulations to our volleyball program on its three-game sweep of No. 2 Texas! Head Coach Jill Kramer, staff and especially the student-athletes are truly to be commended on a great win!
On the same night we beat Texas in volleyball, our now nationally-ranked men's swimming and diving program posted an impressive victory over SMU. It was good times in the Rec Center!
ON THE DOCKET
We look forward to seeing a lot of you in Stillwater for Saturday's 2:30 p.m. football game at Oklahoma State. If you can't make the trip and are still in town on Saturday, drop by the Rec Center at noon as we host Iowa State in volleyball.
Women's basketball has a Sunday exhibition game at 2 p.m. versus Texas Wesleyan in the Rec Center. Admission is free.
NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE

Last Week's Answer: It was Ed Harris, in "Apollo 13," who said the memorable line, "Failure is not an option."
This Week's Question: When you come in on Monday and you're not feeling real well, does anyone ever say to you, "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays?"
COMPLIANCE CORNER

Hang Time is a former basketball student-athlete at Ocean State University (OSU). Hang exhausted his eligibility three years ago and has been playing in the NBA. Hang is in town visiting with the coaches next week and would like to participate in a few practices with the team. Is it permissible for Hang to practice?
Yes with conditions. NCAA Bylaw 14.2.1.6 states that a former student at the certifying institution (e.g., former student-athlete) may participate in an organized practice session on an occasional basis, provided the institution does not publicize the participation of the former student at any time before the practice session. (Adopted: 3/3/11)
