Rifle Closes Fall Season With Win At Army

FORT WORTH -- The TCU rifle team closed out the fall season with a dominating victory at Army. For the fifth time this season, the Horned Frogs surpassed the 4,690 plateau, posting a team score of 4,697.
The foundation for a successful match was set in smallbore as the Frogs fired their second-highest score and the seventh best score in school history. Hannah Black, Nicole Hankey, Rachel Garner and Ariana Grabowski combined to shoot a 2,333 in the 3x20.
In air rifle, the squad fired a 2,364. Sally Li, Black and Hankey fired the top three scores in the match as each posted a mark of 592 or better.
Black posted the match's top aggregate score of 1,180, the third highest individual aggregate this season. Her 587 in smallbore was tops among shooters in the competition and is the third highest score posted by a Horned Frog this season. She turned in the second highest mark in air rifle after shooting a 593.
Hankey finished second with an aggregate score of 1,171. She finished third in air rifle with a 592, while finishing fifth in smallbore with a 579.
Li tied her season-high and finished first among shooters with a 594 in air rifle. She posted a 575 in smallbore for a 1,169 aggregate score, which was the third-best at the match.
Garner finished fourth with an aggregate score of 1,167 after shooting a 584 in smallbore and a 583 in air rifle. The team's top smallbore average shooter this season, she has fired a score in the 580s in all eight matches this season.
Grabowski shot a smallbore score in the 580s for the fourth consecutive match and the fifth time this season, shooting a 583.
Not factoring into the team scores was Barrett Ray, who tied her personal best with a 589 in air rifle.
TCU will take a two-month hiatus from match action as the semester winds down. The second half of the season gets underway on Jan. 17 when the Horned Frogs host Ohio State.
