Rifle Continues Torrid Start; Beats Air Force

FORT WORTH – The TCU rifle team continued its torrid start to the season with another dominating performance at the range. The Horned Frogs topped Air Force with its second straight 4,700 point effort, defeating the Falcons 4,702-4,677.
The difference in the match came in smallbore as the Horned Frogs fired another program top-10 score of 2,332, topping Air Force's 2,309 effort. TCU took a two-point victory in air rifle, 2,370-2,368.
Hannah Black turned in the match's top performance finishing first in smallbore with a 586 and second in air rifle after shooting a 593. Her 1,179 aggregate score was tops among all shooters.
Sally Li backed Black's strong smallbore performance with a season-high 585 to finish second in the match. Rachel Garner fired a 581 and Nichole Hankey shot a 580 to pace the Frogs. Not factoring into the team score, but finishing tied for the fourth-best performance was Ariana Grabowski who shot a 581.
For the third time this season, Mindy Miles turned in yet another dominating performance in air rifle. She fired a 598, missing a single shot in the second and third string. Black tied her season-high with a 593 to finish in a three-way tie for second. Li's 591 gave the Frogs three shooters with a score of 590 or better for the fourth time this season. Rounding out the top four shooters for TCU was Hankey with a 588.
Li tied her season-high with an aggregate score of 1,176, tying with Miles for the second-highest match aggregate score.
The Horned Frogs will take a week off before returning to the range on Nov. 15 at Ohio State.
