Jan. 7, 2015 HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We hope you had an enjoyable Holiday season, and we wish you a very Happy New Year and a great 2015!
CHICK-FIL-A PEACH BOWL CHAMPIONS!
It was great to see so many of you at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. We turned Atlanta purple! All of you played a part in our great win over Ole Miss. As they did all season, our student-athletes fed off your energy. Congrats to head coach Gary Patterson, his staff and everyone in our football program on an incredible season! We also thank them for taking us on an incredible journey with them.

TOWN HALL MEETING SET
Make sure to mark your calendar for Monday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m. when we host our next TCU Athletics Town Hall Meeting in the BLUU Auditorium. We'll cover whatever topics are on your mind and let you know what's happening on our end.
WELCOME HOME!
Please join me in welcoming home Jill Kramer as our new director of volleyball. You might remember her as Jill Pape, when she was part of our first-ever volleyball team in 1996. Jill was a four-year letterwinner and part of our initial graduating class for the sport. Jill spent the last five seasons as the head coach at West Virginia.

ESPN HITS FORT WORTHIt's great to have ESPN back in town with Sundance Square and Fort Worth as its headquarters for coverage of Monday's national championship game. Having ESPN in our backyard has provided some terrific exposure opportunities, including Gary Patterson on Mike & Mike this morning. We've also had a good number of ESPN's talent and analysts visiting our campus.
BASEBALL DEADLINE NEARING
Our defending Big 12 champion baseball program is ranked second in the preseason Collegiate Baseball poll. As a reminder, the renewal deadline for baseball season tickets is Friday, Jan. 9.

STAT OF THE DAY
Our appearance in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl allowed us to become just the fourth program nationally to play in each of the New Year's Six bowls. Our rich football tradition puts us in exclusive company with Florida State, Miami (Fla.) and Tennessee.

ON THE DOCKET
Conference play is underway for our basketball programs. This week also marks our final Holiday Hoops games in which $5 general admission tickets are available for the men's and women's contests. We'll have a Purple Out for Saturday's 3 p.m. men's game versus Baylor at Wilkerson-Greines. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt. You can catch the men tonight at Kansas State in an 8 p.m. game on ESPNEWS. Our women have home games at the Rec Center tonight at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. versus Iowa State and Oklahoma State, respectively. Men's tennis and both our swimming and diving programs are in competition in Florida this week.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: My friend Jim Brierton submitted the following quote from Natalie Wood in Miracle on 34th Street, "Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to."
This Week: "Surely you can't be serious." "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
During the break between fall and spring semesters, Ocean State University (OSU) will be participating in a bowl game as well as hosting a few men's and women's basketball games. OSU's band is not able to participate in all these events, so is it permissible for OSU to hire a local high school band to perform at the home basketball games?
Yes. NCAA Bylaw 13.15.2.5 states that an institution may hire a band (e.g., marching band, pep band) comprised of prospective student-athlete-aged individuals to perform at its regular-season home contests and/or postseason home or away-from-home contests, provided the band is paid commensurate with the going rate in that locale for similar services and the organization providing the band is located within 150 miles of the competition site. (Adopted: 11/1/01 effective 8/1/02)
KEEP IN TOUCH
Please let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding our program. This is also your program and we value your feedback. We welcome all calls and emails.
