NETWORKING TIME
Greetings from Las Colinas! I've been in meetings the last couple days at the Division IA Athletic Directors' Institute. It's an annual event for athletics administrators to share experiences with colleagues across the country.
REPORTING DAYS NEAR
Another athletics season is definitely upon us! Football officially reports Sunday for the start of its preseason camp. The first practice is Monday. Soccer begins Tuesday, and volleyball reports Friday. There's nothing like the return of student-athletes to campus!

MEET THE FROGS
Please mark your calendar for Aug. 23 for our annual Meet The Frogs. This year's event will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Sam Baugh Indoor Practice Facility. Stay tuned for more details. Our Volleyball Alumni Game will also be held on Aug. 23 with a 2 p.m. start.

REUNIONS
Many of you have great memories of our 1984 and 1994 football teams. We'll be honoring those special squads with a pair of reunions at home games this fall. The 1994 Southwest Conference champions will be recognized at our Aug. 30 season opener versus Samford. Pat Sullivan, the head coach of those 1994 Horned Frogs, will be returning to campus that night as the head coach at Samford. During our Dec. 6 regular-season finale with Iowa State, we'll celebrate the 30th anniversary of our 1984 "Unbeleeevable" squad that played in the Bluebonnet Bowl at the Astrodome.
FROGS IN THE PROS
Did you know we have 17 former football student-athletes active in the NFL? We wish all of them the best as NFL training camps are now officially underway.
HORNED FROG FACTOR
Congratulations to track and field's Justin Chambers on receiving an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship! Justin, who was the Big 12 Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was also selected for a Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship from the Conference. Additionally, Justin was a recipient of the Big 12's Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Conference's highest academic honor.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: A very young Patrick Dempsey brought about the following response when breaking out his dance moves in Can't Buy Me Love, "Look, it's the African anteater ritual!"
This Week: "Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence of beauty."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
Break Point is a tennis student-athlete at Ocean State University. Break's birthday is today, so the coaches would like to have cake and ice cream for Break and her teammates.
Is this permissible?
Yes. NCAA Bylaw 16.11.1.6 states that an institution may provide student-athletes with reasonable refreshments (e.g., soft drinks, snacks) for student-athlete educational and business meetings and, on an occasional basis, for celebratory events (e.g., birthdays). [R] (Adopted: 10/28/99)
