MINI-PLANS AVAILABLE
In case you can't make every football game, we now have two mini-plans available. These seats in Sections 118 and 119 were made possible from tickets held for the visiting team's band. Some opponents will not be bringing their band or are traveling with less than a full allotment of members. Both plans are $150 per ticket and feature three games. The Purple plan includes Samford, Texas Tech and Iowa State. The White plan has Minnesota, Oklahoma State and Kansas State. You can see one game per month with either plan. FOOTBALL NEARING
In case you missed it, we were well represented on the Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team announced today. Sam Carter, Chucky Hunter and Devonte Fields are on the squad with Devonte chosen by the media as the Preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Big 12 Media Day is Monday in Dallas. We'll then have Coach Patterson visiting ESPN with other Big 12 coaches for a media blitz later in the week. Our team officially opens camp on Aug. 3.
THE TROUT FACTOR
Through our incredible relationship with Nike, we were one of just eight baseball programs selected nationally to test the new Mike Trout model shoe. Two of our student-athletes were wearing the shoe this season for research and development purposes. The Nike Vapor Lunar Trout was launched last month, and it was great to know that we played a part in the process for the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game Most Valuable Player. Pictured below is Trout with fellow Angel C.J. Cron, brother of former TCU standout Kevin Cron.
FROG FOR LIFE
Speaking of the All-Star Game, Matt Carpenter continues to show his loyalty to TCU by once again flashing the Horned Frogs' hand sign during the pre-game introductions. You might recall he started this new tradition last year when he made his first All-Star appearance.
ERA TITLE
Congratulations to our baseball program on finishing No. 1 in the nation for team ERA at 2.22. While credit obviously goes to our student-athletes, let's also give a tip of the cap to pitching coach Kirk Saarloos on a job well done!

NEW VENUE GUIDELINES
As you make your way to our various athletics facilities for games this season, most notably Amon G. Carter Stadium, we have some new guidelines to share. Backpacks will no longer be allowed at our various venues. Also, diaper bags and purses not exceeding 14 inches will be allowed but such items may cause a delay due to bag checks.
DINE WITH COACH P
We have a unique opportunity for folks at next Thursday's sold-out Women's Football Clinic. The last table available is with none other than Gary Patterson. to bid on the opportunity for you and seven friends to sit and dine with our head football coach.
SPANNING THE GLOBE
I know a lot of Frogs have been on vacation this summer. That includes Scott Kirkpatrick, who provided the below photo of him proudly displaying his TCU colors on a cruise aboard the Disney Dream. He's pictured on the deck overlooking Disney's private island of Castaway Cay. If you have images to share of you and/or family and friends wearing TCU apparel from all points worldwide, please send them my way (delconte@tcu.edu) to share.

NAME THE MOVIE QUOTE
Last Week's Answer: Sixteen Candles, one of my favorite movies, provided the classic line when describing The Donger's wardrobe, "What was he wearing? Well, uh, let's see, he was wearing a red argyle sweater, and tan trousers, and red shoes."

This Week: "I always knew I was never going to be a professional bull fighter, but that's not why I did it."
COMPLIANCE CORNER
The Ocean State University (OSU) women's soccer coaches are very excited about their new National Letter of Intent (NLI) signing class. The coaches want to stay in close contact with them to make sure they are getting everything done to finalize the admissions process. Starting on Monday, the assistant coaches will text each of the signees twice a week to send reminders. Is it permissible for the OSU coaches to text their NLI signees?
Yes. NCAA Bylaw 13.4.1.4.2 states that there shall be no limit on the forms and no restrictions on the publicity of electronically transmitted correspondence sent to a prospective student-athlete (or the prospective student-athlete's relatives or legal guardians) after one of the following events occurs: (Adopted: 1/15/11 effective 8/1/11, Revised: 7/31/13)
(a.) The prospective student-athlete signs a National Letter of Intent (NLI) or the institution's written offer of admission and/or financial aid; or
(b.) The institution receives a financial deposit in response to the institution's offer of admission.
